The Opportunity
A nationally recognized commercial general contractor specializing in high-end hospitality and restaurant construction is seeking an experienced Traveling Superintendent to lead field operations on projects across the United States.

This role reports directly to the VP of Project Management and is vital in ensuring projects are completed safely, on time, and to the highest quality standards. It offers the opportunity to oversee complex, design-driven builds for premium brands across the country within a family-oriented, highly collaborative environment that values long-term relationships, stability, and teamwork.

The Role
The Traveling Superintendent serves as the on-site leader responsible for project execution from turnover and mobilization through final inspection and closeout, ensuring strong coordination among internal teams, subcontractors, and project stakeholders.

Field Leadership & Project Execution

  • Participate in project turnover meetings and review scope, sequencing, and project requirements
  • Verify field conditions, critical dimensions, logistics, manpower needs, and construction sequencing
  • Maintain and update project schedules in coordination with the Project Manager
  • Manage day-to-day jobsite operations to ensure work progresses according to plan
  • Oversee projects from mobilization through punch list completion and final closeout

Subcontractor & Stakeholder Coordination

  • Coordinate and lead weekly subcontractor meetings
  • Monitor subcontractor performance, manpower, and productivity
  • Maintain strong working relationships with subcontractors, vendors, and field personnel
  • Serve as the on-site liaison with owners, landlords, architects, client vendors, and project leadership

Safety, Quality & Compliance

  • Enforce jobsite safety standards and conduct regular safety meetings
  • Maintain clean, organized, and compliant jobsite conditions
  • Ensure all work meets company quality standards and project specifications
  • Coordinate all required inspections and ensure compliance with local jurisdiction requirements

Documentation & Reporting

  • Maintain accurate daily field reports and weekly safety documentation
  • Track RFIs, change events, and field issues in coordination with the Project Manager
  • Maintain organized jobsite records and support project reporting requirements

What We’re Looking For

  • Direct experience working for a General Contractor building high-end restaurants and/or hotels (required)
  • Minimum 5+ years of Superintendent or field leadership experience in commercial construction
  • Proven experience managing field operations for design-driven hospitality projects
  • Willingness and ability to travel nationwide for project assignments
  • Strong knowledge of construction sequencing, building systems, and plan reading/layout
  • Experience with Procore or similar construction management software
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a collaborative, team-oriented environment
  • Demonstrated tenure and stability with previous employers (longevity is important)

Work Environment

  • Full-time, project-based travel assignments nationwide
  • Active construction jobsite environment with regular standing, walking, and outdoor exposure
  • Strong executive involvement and field leadership support
  • Team-oriented, family-friendly culture focused on long-term success

Compensation & Benefits

  • Base Salary: $120,000 – $130,000, depending on experience
  • Fluctuating Workweek (FWW) overtime premium for hours worked over 40 per week
  • Per diem provided during travel assignments
