As a Technician in the County Treasurer's office, you are hands on to assist in ensuring the efficient operations of the office. Your crucial role in the execution of routine clerical, accounting, and administrative tasks contributes to the efficient performance of the office.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

This role offers a diverse set of responsibilities in a dynamic office environment. It helps ensure a positive experience for the public by contributing to the productive environment of the County Treasurer's office.

Some of the responsibilities will include:

  • Tax Payment Processing: Receive and process tax payments, while maintaining accuracy and efficiency.
  • Tax Sale Support: Assist in the preparation of tax sale lists and the operation of tax lien sales, contributing to the successful execution of these processes.
  • Mobile Home Transactions: Issue and post Mobile Home Authentications certifying the payment of appropriate taxes, as well as issue Mobile Home Moving Permits.
  • Research and Documentation: Conduct research on various situations, maintaining comprehensive and accurate records.
  • Communication: Answer phones, providing information and assistance to callers
  • Financial Management: Receive and receipt all money deposits made to Delta County, post daily bank activity, and balance books daily, ensuring financial accuracy.
  • Bookkeeping: Provide dual control of daily and monthly activity for transparency and efficient bookkeeping.
  • Tax Lien Redemption: Process back tax redemption on tax liens, contributing to the resolution of outstanding financial matters.
  • Tax Information Dissemination: Provide the public with tax information and other general information, fostering a positive and informative experience. Issue Certificates of Taxes Due when requested
  • Team Collaboration: Work collaboratively with others in a cooperative atmosphere, demonstrating respect and support for colleagues.
  • Adaptability: Perform other similar and related duties as assigned, showcasing flexibility and a willingness to contribute to various aspects of office operations.
  • Cross Training: Engage in cross-training initiatives with the Public Trustee Department, enhancing your skill set and contributing to a more versatile team.

THE REQUIREMENTS:

Education: High school diploma or equivalent

Experience: Two (2) years of experience dealing with the public in an office setting. Basic knowledge of accounting and some knowledge of property ownership and transfer are helpful.

Combination of education and experience could waive specific requirements.

Life insurance and employee only medical insurance is available at no cost to the employee. We have a pre-tax Flexible Spending Account (FSA). Employees contribute 4% of their salary to a 401(a) retirement account fully matched with 4% from the County along with an optional 457 tax advantaged deferred-compensation retirement plan. Paid time off is accrued at 14 hours per month with an additional 11 paid holidays per calendar year. We have a comprehensive Employee Assistance Program (EAP) that includes counseling along with some legal and financial support counseling.
