JOB SUMMARYThe TRPG Game Designer for Darrington Press LLC works with industry-leading talent to invent, innovate, and inspire new tabletop roleplaying game products. The TRPG Game Designer contributes to all aspects of the design process, creating unique gameplay solutions and impactful social experiences. This role collaborates closely with a cross-functional team to bring new, exciting products to market.ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES [Other assignments, projects, and duties not outlined below may be required]Creates innovative, robust, consumer-centric game and play experiencesWrites and develops publishable adventure content, story text, and game mechanics (5,000+ words per week)Brainstorms new game ideas and consistently applies on-trend design insightCreates art orders and map orders for products in developmentHelps create and maintain publishing guides and design guidesReviews and provides feedback on products created by third-party partners to ensure alignment with Darrington Press’s standardsGenerates and delivers comprehensive design specs and documentation in a timely mannerUnderstands and contributes to overall Darrington Press design visionEDUCATIONBachelor’s degree or equivalent experienceEXPERIENCE5+ years of experience as a TRPG game designerExperience leading or co-leading TRPG products from start to finishAdobe suite experience, especially Adobe InDesignQUALIFICATIONSExcellent verbal and presentation skills including the ability to work collaboratively and communicate complex ideas in an efficient and engaging wayExcellent mock-up / crafting / model-making skills to iteratively test ideas through building and playingExcellent organizational and file management skills and attention to detail  Excellent time management skills and the ability to multitaskDesire and aptitude to adapt quickly to a rapidly changing, fast-paced, collaborative creative environmentExcellent organizational skills and attention to detailStrong leadership skills PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTSProlonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computerMust be able to lift 20 pounds at timesCOMPENSATION AND BENEFITSThis position offers a salary range of $95,000-$115,000 annually (for California-based candidates), commensurate with experience and qualifications.
