Description

The primary role of the Flatbed Truck Driver is to drive the flatbed truck to various locations to pick up and deliver trash and recycling receptacles and perform general maintenance duties.

Essential Responsibilities

  1. Deliver and pick up trash and recycling receptacles as required.
  2. Perform minor repairs on receptacles.
  3. Maintain time and production metrics while performing daily responsibilities.
  4. Perform daily pre and post trip inspection of vehicle and maintain the vehicle’s appearance.
  5. Learn geography of assigned route and surrounding areas.
  6. Operate vehicles with public safety as your primary responsibility.
  7. Use communication device to effectively communicate with dispatch and route supervisors.
  8. Report all concerns, accidents, injuries or maintenance issues in a timely manner.
  9. Observe and comply with all applicable safety regulations, rules, policies and procedures.
  10. Maintain collaborative working relationship with coworkers and customers.
  11. Assist yard personnel with the cleaning and storage of receptacles.
  12. Deliver, pick up and clean portable receptacles.

Yard work Responsibilities:

    • Ensure that the yard and office are clean of debris and hazards.
    • Wash and detail trucks and vehicles.
    • Wash and detail collection bins and carts.
    • Wire brush and paint bins.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Knowledge of:

  • Principles of customer service and equipment maintenance.
  • Federal, state and local job site health and safety rules, regulations and best practices.

Ability to:

  • Maintain a positive attitude with coworkers and customers.
  • Proactively establish trust and credibility with coworkers by maintaining accountability.
  • Contribute to the team dynamic by promoting inclusion, support and collaboration amongst coworkers.
  • Take initiative, self-manage time and productivity through multitasking.
  • Effectively and concisely communicate both orally and in writing.
  • Think independently and creatively to problem solve.
  • Read and understand routing.

Education, Training & Experience

  1. Class C license with clean driving record required.
  2. Experience in the waste and recycling industry preferred.
