QUALIFICATIONS
: High School diploma or GED. Valid Washington State LPN License, Washington State Drivers license and State/FBI background clearance required. Current First Aid/CPR certification.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Administer first aid, CPR, and emergency care to students who are sick or injured; notify ESA certified school nurse, administrator, and parents, as required. In collaboration with ESA Registered Nurse, assist with making adjustment in the care plan. Complete accident and suspected child abuse reports as required
  • Administer prescription and non-prescription medicine as prescribed by health care professional or parents; maintain daily log
  • Perform standard physical health care procedures as required, including sterile procedures and administering medication by injection
  • Coordinate and perform vision and hearing screening and record results; measure weight and review immunization status of students
  • Assist with the identification, prevention, and control of communicable diseases; observe universal precautions at all times
  • Assemble, organize, and maintain student health records, files, and supplies
  • Attend training as needed
  • Provide training as needed to staff regarding student health and medical treatment needs as allowed by licensure
  • Serve as a cooperative member of the health services team
  • Know and observe safety procedures; maintain safe working conditions; comply with safety rules and regulations
  • Maintain appropriate physical condition and health status necessary to perform duties and responsibilities as assigned
  • Must be able to perform the essential functions of the job with or without reasonable accommodation
  • Perform other duties as assigned


REQUIREMENTS:

  • Knowledge of principles of nursing and medical terminology
  • Knowledge of the principles and practices of aseptic/sterile techniques and infectious disease control
  • Knowledge of care and maintenance of medical supplies and equipment
  • Knowledge of first aid and CPR
  • Ability to learn and integrate policies and procedures adopted by the school building, the District, and the State of Washington
  • Ability to communicate with students, staff, parents and the community as well as the ability to demonstrate patience and flexibility in providing for students with special needs in a pleasant and helpful manner, to remain composed and effectively employ judgment in emergency situations
  • Demonstrated sensitivity to cultural, developmental, religious and ethnic diversity of student and community
  • Ability to be entrusted with confidential and sensitive information
  • Ability to operate standard office equipment, including computer technology and internet usage
  • Demonstrated proficiency in writing and oral communication skills
  • Proficient math skills to calculate medication dosage
  • Ability to establish rapport with students, colleagues, and administrators
  • Willingness to benefit from building supervision, evaluation programs and professional development
  • Follow School Board policies and procedures
