Tutors work with students to provide educational support in reading and mathematics by using a variety of techniques including hands‑on activities, technology, field trips and small group instruction to build upon the lessons taught in the traditional classroom setting. Minimum Qualifications Valid Ohio license or permit appropriate for the assignment Record free of criminal violations that would prohibit public school employment Previous teaching or tutoring experience preferred Responsibilities Creates and implements lesson plans that include reading and math development, character development, physical activity, and enrichment activities Tutors small groups of students to develop their cognitive abilities and improve upon their academic skills Works to build student self‑esteem and motivation through positive reinforcement Collaborates with school staff to develop positive relationships with students and align learning strategies with academic goals Prepares and implements enrichment activities in coordination with the 21st Century Site Coordinator Provides a positive learning environment for students requiring flexibility and patience Analyzes student performance and provides reports on student progress Meets with parents and/or student’s teacher as needed Additional Details Up to 5 hours per week.
