Join Our Team at Caribou Medical Center as a Ultrasound Technician! As an Ultrasound Technician, you'll perform diagnostic sonographic exams, assist with specialty procedures, and ensure that patients receive exceptional care and comfort. Your role will include working with imaging technology, maintaining safety standards, and playing a vital part in the healthcare journey for patients in need of diagnostic assistance. Key Responsibilities Diagnostic Sonography & Patient Care Perform a range of general diagnostic sonographic exams, including abdomen, pelvis, OB, vascular, cardiac, and other specialty exams. Utilize established sonography techniques, following infection control and safety protocols to ensure patient and equipment safety. Review requisitions, prioritize stat exams, and organize your daily schedule to ensure the timely completion of procedures. Provide direct patient care, ensuring their comfort, explaining the procedure, and addressing concerns to ensure understanding. Assess patients during exams and report any changes in their condition to physicians. Select the appropriate sonography equipment and position patients for optimal imaging results. Program and operate sonography machines for a variety of diagnostic exams, ensuring high-quality images. Ensure all images are properly entered into the PACS system for storage and review. Take on-call responsibilities as needed, responding promptly to emergency status requisitions. Department Support & Equipment Maintenance Maintain a clean and safe work environment, including regular cleaning of equipment, examination rooms, and proper disposal of soiled linens. Restock supplies and report equipment malfunctions to your supervisor or maintenance provider. Ensure all assigned duties are completed on time, including checking with nursing stations and the ER before clocking out. Follow hospital policies, maintain regulatory requirements, and respect patient privacy and dignity at all times. Ensure a professional appearance, including wearing identification and adhering to departmental dress standards. Clerical and Administrative Tasks Schedule in- and out-patient examinations, providing patients with clear instructions for prep. Communicate effectively with patients, answering questions and assisting with exam scheduling. Record patient exam data in the EHR system and complete all required charges. Maintain accurate logs of exams and collaborate with the team to ensure all patient needs are met. Provide exceptional customer service both in-person and over the phone. Work Environment This role is based in a hospital setting, requiring movement throughout the facility and potential contact with patients who may have contagious conditions. There may be exposure to blood, bodily fluids, latex, and chemicals in the course of your duties. Regular walking and occasional extended hours may be necessary depending on patient and departmental needs. Position Details Position Type: Non-exempt, full-time with flexible hours. Work Schedule: 10 hours per day, 4 days per week. Call and callback hours are required based on department needs. Physical Demands: Must be able to perform physically demanding tasks, including extended periods of standing and moving patients, as well as assisting with heavier equipment as needed. Required Graduation from an AMA-approved Sonography program (college-affiliated or hospital-trained). Current registration with the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) or the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT). Basic Life Support (BLS) certification. Minimum 5 years of professional sonography experience. At least one certification in general sonography, echo, vascular, or obstetrics. Preferred Bachelor’s degree in Sonography or related field. 6+ years of experience in diagnostic sonography.
