Undergraduate Research Assistant Apply
Position Overview
Dr. Gibum Kwons research lab in the Mechanical Engineering department is offering an undergraduate research assistant position with an hourly salary for the Fall of 2023. This position is available for an immediate start. We are seeking undergraduate students with strong academic backgrounds in Materials Chemistry and Polymers.
Job Description
- Synthesizing polymers using commercially available monomers. 25%
- Coating geotextile with the polymers and testing its water transport rate. 25%
- Compiling and analyzing data . 25%
- Meeting with Dr. Kwon to report progress and setup research plans. 25%
Required Qualifications
GPA greater than 3.0 in General Chemistry or equivalent.
**During the semester term of the appointment, the student hourly must be enrolled in no fewer than 6 credit hours. For summer periods the student hourly must: 1) have been enrolled in no less than 6 hours in the past spring semester or 2) be pre-enrolled in upcoming fall semester in no less than 6 hours or 3) be enrolled in summer session or 4) be admitted to study in the upcoming fall semester. Student Hourlies may be undergraduate or graduate students. (Exceptions granted for GRA/GTA/GA appointments DO NOT apply to Student Hourly appointments).**

Preferred Qualifications
Hands-on experience in polymers and chemistry laboratory work
