OVERVIEW:
Hathaway Brown School is seeking a dedicated and experienced Upper School Head Field Hockey Coach to lead and inspire our student-athletes. The ideal candidate will have a passion for coaching, a commitment to the holistic development of student-athletes, and the ability to create a positive and inclusive team culture.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Coaching:
- Develop and implement effective and age-appropriate training programs.
- Instruct student-athletes on the fundamentals, strategies, and rules of field hockey.
- Foster a positive and competitive team environment.
2. Player Development:
- Provide individualized feedback to players for skill improvement.
- Support players in setting and achieving personal and team goals.
- Encourage a commitment to academic success and sportsmanship.
3. Program Administration:
- Coordinate practice schedules, game schedules, and team logistics.
- Collaborate with the athletic department on program development and enhancement.
- Attend school and athletic department meetings as required.
4. Communication:
- Maintain open and transparent communication with players, parents, and school administrators
- Provide regular updates on team progress and achievements.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Previous coaching experience at the high school or collegiate level.
- Extensive knowledge of field hockey rules, strategies, and training techniques.
- Strong leadership and communication skills.
- Commitment to fostering a positive and inclusive team culture.
- Ability to motivate and inspire student-athletes.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Valid coaching certification or willingness to obtain one.
- Background check clearance.
- Availability for afternoon practices and evening games during the Field Hockey Season season.
