Job Description:
We are looking for a Valve Supervisor 2nd Shift to provide leadership and guidance to the hourly team members in valve repair activities with focuses on the construction, repair, and support of our products.
Job Responsibilities:
  • Schedules work on cars to meet customer commitments.
  • Monitors and manages shop efficiency.
  • Writes supplemental work sheets to charge the customer appropriately for un-estimated work.
  • Performs in-process inspection on all work performed prior to valves and cars leaving the department.
  • Holds daily departmental safety, quality, and production meetings.
  • Support the Quality Assurance Department efforts by ensuring compliance with all OSHA, AAR, FRA, TRPI and customer requirements including the proper completion of all related documents and the corresponding repairs (in process and prior to final QA).
  • Uses knowledge of production methods and procedures and the capabilities of machines and equipment to manage the production and quality of inspection, teste, and repair activities.
  • Manages, mentor, coach, and train team members.
  • Participates in root-cause investigations, and corrective and preventative actions to prevent recurrence.
  • Participate in daily Production Meetings providing the status of rail cars in process.
  • Participate in employee interviews, perform all new hire orientation training and employee performance evaluations.
  • Monitor inventory levels of all required materials and equipment and work in conjunction with the Material Manager to ensure maintaining proper inventory control as well as wasted due to excess inventory or equipment.
  • Make recommendations to the Division Manager concerning the valve department with the intention of resulting in continual process improvements while maintaining established quality and safety standards.
  • Participate in all internal, external and customer audits regarding the repair department(s).
Job Requirements:
  • High School diploma or GED. Bachelors Degree preferred.
  • Knowledge of the Federal Railroad Administrations regulations governing the inspection and test of rail cars, and the Association of American Railroads Interchange Rules.
  • Ability to read prints and drawings, including weld and nondestructive testing symbols.
  • Preferably 5+ years of rail car inspection, test, and repair experience.
  • Past supervisory/management experience.
