**Van Driver (Part-Time)** * by * January 31, 2022February 1, 2022 JOB TITLE: Van Driver DIVISION: Youth Services DEPARTMENT: TBD LOCATION: SER Workforce Center, 5200 Stecker Dearborn, MI 48126 REPORTS TO: Lead Program Specialist FLSA STATUS: Non-Exempt/Hourly CLASSIFICATION: Part-Time (25 hours/week) APPROVED DATE: 1/27/2022 JOB SUMMARY: SER Youth Services Team is looking for an engaged, energetic, and experienced driver to transport youth participants in a 15 passenger van. Will be responsible for transporting participants (to and from school, jobs, appointments, etc.) and provide courier services while adhering to predetermined schedule. This position requires an individual who will interact courteously and effectively with youth, staff and partners under varying circumstances. The ideal candidate will have two years of work related driving experience and three years of customer service experience. Must provide a valid State of Michigan Chauffeurs License. The wage for the position ranges $14.00 to $16.00 per hour. ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: 1. Drives a transportation vehicle over assigned routes in accordance with an established time schedule. Transports youth participants including staff to various locations. Supports Youth Services staff in delivery of services to the community. Performs daily safety pre-trip checks, tires, brakes, windshield wipers, lights, oil, fuel, water to ensure that everything is in working order. 5. Maintains the transportation vehicle in a clean and orderly condition, and inspects and reports mechanical defects of malfunctions or maintenance issues to Facilities/Procurement Manager. Reports youth participant incidents to supervisor immediately. Supports a safe work environment by performing duties in accordance with acceptable work procedures. Maintains driver logs, trip sheets, and fuel logs. Uses a personal computer to input information and maintain on various automated reporting systems as needed Performs other related duties as assigned. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: NONE JOB QUALIFICATIONS: Minimum two (2) years of work related experience including driving experience. Must possess (3) years of customer service experience. Ability to interact with youth participants in a positive and productive manner. 4. Perform appropriately in situations requiring tact and diplomacy. 5. Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships. Mental ability to handle pressures related to dealing with multiple individuals from diverse backgrounds and varying levels of need. Excellent written and verbal communications skills; able to understand and carry out verbal and written directions. Bilingual language skills in English/Spanish preferred. Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Access). Ability to adhere to time constraints and schedules. Ability to read and comprehend a map and has general familiarity with surrounding areas. Drives vehicle in a safe manner and wears a safety belt when operating a vehicle at all times. 13. Knowledge of safe driving practices and techniques. Knowledge of traffic regulations. 15. Must be 18 years of age and provide a valid State of Michigan Chauffeurs License, must meet local or state standards for driver record check. Must be able to lift at least 30 pounds. Must have access to reliable transportation. Must complete a background check including drug screen. Evening and/or weekend hours may be occasionally required. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: The physical requirements indicated below are examples of the physical aspects that this position classification must perform in carrying out essential job functions. Persons performing service in this position classification will exert 30 to 40 pounds of force frequently to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects. This type of work may involve ascending and descending stairs, and ramps, and will involve walking or standing for extended periods. Perceiving the nature of sound, near and far vision, depth perception, providing oral information, the manual dexterity to operate equipment and, and handle and work with various materials and objects are important aspects of this job. WORK ENVIRONMENT: The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. Exposure to hot, cold, wet, humid, or windy conditions caused by weather may occasionally be experienced. When not driving, this job operates in a normal office environment with little discomfort due to noise, dirt, dust, and the like. This role may routinely use standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and fax machines. The noise level in the work environment is moderately loud.
