Job Title: System Adminstrator
Location: Staunton, VA (Onsite)
Duration: 6-12 Months with possible extension
- Communicates effectively with teammates andcustomers of varying levels of technical expertise.
- Configures and deploys new/replacementLinux(REDHAT) and Windows Operating Systems Servers.
- Maintains up-to-date project and architecturedocumentation.
- Monitors system resources for server/serviceanomalies.
- Maintains detailed change history of changes.
- Supports team efforts for threat hunting andmitigation.
The System Administrator is responsible foreffective provisioning, installation/configuration, operation, and maintenanceof computer hardware and software and related infrastructure. This individualensures that system hardware, operating systems, software systems, and relatedprocedures adhere to Commonwealth policies, standards, and guidelines.Responsibilities include systems administration engineering and provisioning,operations and support, maintenance and research and development to ensure continualinnovation. Install new / rebuild existing servers and configure hardware,peripherals, services, settings, directories, storage, etc. in accordance withstandards and project/operational requirements. Perform daily systemmonitoring, verifying the integrity and availability of all hardware, serverresources, systems and key processes, reviewing system and application logs,and verifying completion of scheduled jobs such as backups. Perform regularsecurity monitoring to identify any possible intrusions. Perform daily backupoperations and regular file archival and purge as necessary. Create, change,and delete user accounts per request. Provide Tier III/other support perrequest from various constituencies. Investigate and troubleshoot issues.Diagnose and recover from hardware or software failures. Coordinate andcommunicate with impacted constituencies. Apply OS patches and upgrades on aregular basis, and upgrade administrative tools and utilities. Configure / addnew services as necessary. Upgrade and configure system software that supportsGIS infrastructure applications or Asset Management applications per project oroperational needs. Maintain operational, configuration, or other procedures.Perform periodic performance reporting to support capacity planning. Performongoing performance tuning, hardware upgrades, and resource optimization asrequired.
