Salary: $40,905.02 - $55,608.02 Annually Location : Pontiac, MI Job Type: Full Time Job Number: 2024-202 Department: Animal Control Opening Date: 08/06/2024 Closing Date: Continuous Job Summary Performs professional veterinary work under the supervision of a Veterinarian to maintain the health and safety of animals. Examines all animals and their specimen for disease/illness and assesses treatment thereof. May perform euthanasia on animals as directed by the Veterinarian. Assists the Veterinarian in spaying and neutering of animals. Performs laboratory tests, including urinalysis, blood and fecal examinations. Prepares animal diets and medication as prescribed by the Veterinarian. Works closely with the Oakland County Health Department with regulations regarding animal control. Advises general public on care for domesticated animals. Maintains data and charts for all animals seen at clinic. Evaluates all incoming animals for disease and temperament and logs information on chart for review of Veterinarian. Utilizes current Countywide and/or department specific software to complete assignments. Minimum Qualifications Applications will be rejected if the following information is not provided at the time of application: •Thoroughly documented work history •Valid Veterinarian Technician License •The application is incomplete in ANY capacity 1. Be a high school graduate or have a certificate of successful completion of the General Educational Development (GED) test. 2. Must be licensed from the State of Michigan as a Veterinarian Technician. 3. Have one (1) year experience working as a Veterinarian Technician or in an animal hospital setting. 4. Possess a valid United States motor vehicle operator's or chauffeur's license. Out of Country driver's license holders will be required to obtain the appropriate valid State of Michigan driver's license before the hire date. 5. Pass the complete examination, including the employment medical examination established for this classification. 6. Successfully complete the six month probation period.
