Key Responsibilities:
- Assess and monitor patients' vital signs and overall condition in an emergency and critical care setting
- Assist veterinarians with emergency procedures, including triage, wound care, and life-saving interventions
- Administer medications, treatments, and injections as prescribed by the veterinary team
- Prepare and maintain equipment and supplies required for emergency procedures
- Collect and process laboratory samples, including blood work and urinalysis
- Provide anesthesia monitoring for critical patients
- Maintain accurate medical records and documentation of patient care
- Communicate effectively with pet owners about their pets' conditions, treatments, and progress
- Support the team by keeping the workspace organized and well-stocked
- Work collaboratively with veterinarians, technicians, and support staff in a high-energy environment
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Certification as a Veterinary Technician (LVT, RVT, or CVT) preferred
- At least 2 years of experience as a veterinary technician, specifically in emergency or critical care preferred
- Strong knowledge of veterinary emergency procedures and protocols
- Ability to work effectively in high-pressure situations and make quick decisions
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to handle and restrain animals of various sizes and temperaments
- Demonstrated ability to work well in a team-oriented environment
- Flexibility to work day and swing shifts, including weekends and holidays
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills
