Overview Veterinary Technician – High-Volume Spay & Neuter Unit Organization: Good Shepherd Humane Society Position Type: Contract/PRN (2–3 shifts per month) Compensation: $250 per day Schedule: Variable shifts with early mornings required Base Location: Eureka Springs, Arkansas Service Areas: Varying locations across Northwest and North Central Arkansas – including Huntsville, Harrison, Green Forest, Berryville, Leslie, and Jasper Start Date: May 5, 2026 About the Role Good Shepherd Humane Society, based in Eureka Springs, Arkansas, is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Veterinary Technician to join our mobile high-volume spay and neuter team. This position supports our traveling surgical unit, which provides affordable, high-quality sterilization services to communities across Northwest Arkansas. The ideal candidate is reliable, adaptable, and motivated by our mission to reduce pet overpopulation and improve animal welfare across the region. This role is well-suited for someone who enjoys variety, teamwork, and hands-on work in a fast-paced, rewarding environment. Responsibilities Assist veterinarians with all aspects of surgical preparation, anesthesia monitoring, and patient recovery in a high-volume setting. Provide compassionate, confident handling of animals—especially those that are unfamiliar or stressed—during premedication, surgery, and recovery. Maintain accurate medical and surgical records using computer-based systems, including drug tracking and patient documentation. Support patient intake and discharge, ensuring clear communication with clients, partner shelters, and team members. Assist with daily setup, breakdown, and restocking of the mobile unit. Represent Good Shepherd Humane Society with professionalism and help foster positive relationships with community partners and the public. (Preferred but not required) Safely drive or assist in transporting the mobile surgical unit to clinic locations. Qualifications Licensed or certified Veterinary Technician (CVT, LVT, or RVT) preferred, or equivalent hands-on experience in a veterinary surgical environment. Experience with RVs or CDL vehicles is a plus, but driving is not a requirement of this position. Strong computer literacy—comfortable using web-based veterinary software and digital record systems (e.g., ClinicHQ). Excellent communication, organization, and teamwork skills. Comfortable with early mornings (clinic setup on site begins by 7:30 AM) and commutes up to 1.5 hours in the mobile unit to various clinic locations. 6 months to 1 year of animal handling experience required; experience with anesthesia or high-volume spay/neuter strongly preferred. Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for extended periods. Deep commitment to animal welfare and community service. Additional Information Applicants based in Eureka Springs or Berryville are ideal due to proximity of the mobile unit homebase in Eureka Springs, but applicants from outside this area are welcome to apply.
