Qualifications Certified veterinary technician (preferred) with a minimum of five years technical experience Two years supervisory/management experience preferred Professional demeanor and appearance, excellent interpersonal skills, and a positive, friendly attitude Ability to plan, organize, make decisions, and communicate effectively with team members, clients and doctors Able to handle multiple tasks at once and deal with high levels of stress in an environment of changing priorities Must work full-time hours, flexibility a must, including occasional holidays Responsibilities Directing workflow on the floor Help with the interview process for potential new hires Technician scheduling Assists in staffing and coverage where needed Assists in the educational development of technicians and their skills Assists in basic protocol and standard procedure training Provide opportunities for staff to gain more firsthand experience Mentoring technicians within the department Work with department doctors to develop protocols to improve the service Ensure that VCA policies, guidelines, and recommendations are implemented by all members of the technical staff The pay range for this position is $25-$29 /hour.
