OVERVIEW

Following an exceptionally strong year of performance, our client is seeking to make a strategic hire into their growing New York team.


THE EMPLOYER

The employer is a market-leading investment bank, with an excellent track record & brand within renewable energy. The bank offers a full suite of services across the energy value chain including but not limited to M&A advisory, project finance, capital raising and tax.

The highly respected New York team are seeking a VP, or Director, to work on a healthy pipeline of upcoming transactions/deals.


VICE PRESIDENT

The Vice President oversees deal execution; effectively managing a project transactions full cycle. They serve as a leader in the firm and manage the bankers on deals and as a mentor. They review and oversee the work of the junior team and ensure impeccable and timely delivery to the client as the last line of defence.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Business Development Identifies new or expanded business opportunities through existing deals and across network. Demonstrates capability to originate new business for the firm. Works with legal teams to drive collaboration with their firms outside of the current deal.
  • Leads Client Proposals for buy-side and sell-side M&A and capital raises.
  • Oversees Deal Execution - Fully understands process, lays out a plan to ensure successful outcome. Regularly leads discussions and provides direction to client management teams, investors, etc. Involved in overall transaction and client strategy. Oversees due diligence, ensures information flow and review is done effectively. Leads internal review of documentation and provides recommendations to legal and client teams for negotiations with counterparties.
  • Manages Colleagues - Serves as a mentor, trains and develops the careers of juniors and provides well-rounded performance feedback. Helps to drive a positive internal culture and employee morale with juniors as well as with peers.
  • Deliverables - Reviews, provides feedback to juniors and ensures high quality deliverables are market and client ready - CIMs, Board materials, etc.
  • Financial Modelling The last line of defence on models. Reviews work, identifies and solves issues. Willing to roll up sleeves and dive into the model when necessary as product must be market and client-ready after VP review. Strong understanding of complex models. Has solid understanding of project and company valuation methodology.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelors degree in an analytical field; MBA, CFA or a related advanced degree desired
  • Minimum 6 years of strategic business consulting, valuation, and/or investment banking experience
  • Minimum 3+ years of renewable energy industry experience
  • Significant closing experience in corporate M&A, asset M&A deals and capital raises in an Associate or VP capacity.

EXPERIENCE / SKILLSET

  • Keen interest in developing new business and hit the market to expand their network and ultimately originate new deals.
  • Leads conversations and can influence clients. Demonstrated ability to communicate strategic objectives to team (seniors and juniors) and client. Listens effectively and objectively.
  • Strong team player. Willing to roll up sleeves and tackle any type of work, whenever needed.
  • Delegates well, actively trains and manage deal team workloads effectively. Has expertise in all areas of the deal to serve as last line of defense reviewing others work.
  • Makes sound decisions and swiftly takes actions to eliminate roadblocks, recommend solutions and add the most value. Exhibits strong judgment and risk assessment.
  • Ambitious, always goes the extra mile to ensure we close a deal and meet/exceed client needs. Thinks ahead to anticipate needs and mobilizes team around upcoming work. Consistently shows the desire to take on more.
  • Strong attention to detail, particularly as the reviewer of others work. Experience with significant quality control. Solid organizational skills with a demonstrated ability to multitask.


REMUNERATION / COMPENSATION

In return, the client is offering a best-in-class earnings, compensation & benefits package, along with a transparent route for career progression toward the executive level.

Total Cash-Comp: $500-$600K per annum

Salary: $250-300K

Bonus: 100-110%
