Overview: The Vice President of Lending is a key management position within Doches Credit Union. This role follows Credit Union policies and procedures for overseeing the loan origination process, underwriting, portfolio management, risk assessment, and regulatory compliance within the Credit Union’s lending operations. The VP of Lending will collaborate closely with the Credit Union's executive team to develop and execute strategies for the lending department and the Credit Union as a whole. This includes assessing strengths, weaknesses, threats, and opportunities to formulate and implement tactical plans.
The VP of Lending is responsible for establishing and implementing lending policies, procedures, and comprehensive staff training programs. This position involves leadership responsibilities, such as mentoring and developing the lending team, fostering a positive work culture, and promoting professional growth. Additionally, the position is responsible for creating analytics for reliable projections, reporting financial performance, and tracking overall trends and performance of the lending department. The VP of Lending will use the above reporting metrics to direct lending operations and align the lending strategy to support the Credit Union’s overall growth strategy. Furthermore, the VP of Lending will stay informed of new developments in lending technologies and delivery channels, evaluating and implementing new technologies to ensure the Credit Union remains competitive and in compliance with industry regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervises, trains, reviews, and directs employees in the lending and collections department.
- Manages staff performing these functions in accordance with the Credit Union’s policies and applicable laws. Provides overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of the lending department.
- Develops and implements lending policies and procedures consistent with laws and regulations and in support of the Credit Union’s goals and strategic direction to meet loan production, portfolio yield, and member service goals.
- Ensures oversight of all lending and collections department work products and continuing education for all loan and collections staff.
- Remains knowledgeable of legislative and regulatory initiatives and analyzes potential impacts on the Credit Union's lending operations.
- Is the driving force behind the attainment of Credit Union goals through the lending department.
- Participates in strategic planning, leadership, and management of the Credit Union.
- Maintains strength, security, confidentiality, and stability of the Credit Union which include staff, property, equipment, supplies, and records.
- Maintains knowledge of and compliance with all applicable rules and regulations required within the scope of duties, including, but not limited to, the Bank Secrecy Act, and analyzes potential impacts on the Credit Union's operations.
- Shows ability to perform under time constraints and meet deadlines.
- Performs job duties and responsibilities in compliance with the Credit Union’s policies, procedures, philosophy, and standards of performance.
- Attends and completes all Credit Union required meetings and training sessions.
- Maintains a clean, professional work environment and courteous demeanor.
- Maintains a high level of confidentiality in all matters. Safeguards member and Credit Union information by applying the highest level of confidentiality regarding member, employee, and board interactions with the Credit Union and securing all information in public work areas.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in business administration, finance, or a related field (equivalent work experience considered).
- Minimum of 4 years of experience in lending, finance, accounting, or related leadership roles.
- Strong understanding of financial services industry and lending trends and best practices.
- Exceptional leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to successfully work with large number of people in a courteous, professional manner using discretion and excellent judgment.
- Ability to work with sensitive/confidential information and maintain confidentiality.
