POSITION SUMMARY
The VP/Senior Director of Finance is responsible for leading the financial planning, analysis, and reporting functions across the organization. This role requires a strategic thinker with strong financial acumen and the ability to translate financial data into actionable insights that drive business decisions. The VP/Senior Director of Finance will work closely with senior leadership to develop and execute the company’s financial strategy, ensuring long-term financial sustainability and growth. This role requires a deep understanding of the unique financial dynamics in the software industry, including SaaS business models, recurring revenue, and managing software development costs. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in public companies, possess deep expertise in financial governance, and be highly adept at operating in the fast-paced software industry.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Develop and execute forward-looking financial strategies aligned with the company’s long-term growth objectives.
- Serve as a key advisor to the CFO and executive team, offering data-driven insights and recommendations on financial planning, capital allocation, and business operations.
- Oversee the company’s financial planning processes, including annual budgets, multi-year forecasts, and scenario modeling, ensuring accuracy and alignment with corporate goals.
- Lead the preparation of timely, accurate financial reports for internal and external stakeholders.
- Manage quarterly earnings calls and prepare financial disclosures in collaboration with the CFO, legal, and investor relations teams.
- Partner with department heads to develop financial strategies that enhance operational efficiency and improve margins across the business.
- Oversee Treasury Management, cash flow analysis, working capital management, and debt strategies to ensure liquidity and financial flexibility.
- Identify systems and processes to further streamline operations, enhance reporting capabilities, and support the scalability of the company.
- Establish and oversee the company’s financial risk management framework, identifying potential risks, implementing mitigation strategies, and ensuring financial stability.
- Adhere to internal controls and governance best practices, ensuring the finance function supports overall enterprise risk management and corporate governance objectives.
- Monitor and advise on economic, industry, and competitive trends that could impact financial performance.
- Lead, mentor, and grow the finance team, fostering a culture of excellence, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
- Attract and retain top talent to support the company’s evolving needs and maintain a high-performance finance organization.
- Promote cross-functional collaboration and communication, ensuring the finance team operates as a strategic partner across the company.
- Collaborate with the CFO on M&A strategy, financial due diligence, and integration processes for potential acquisitions.
- Support capital markets initiatives, including equity offerings, debt issuances, and investor relations activities as needed.
- Provide insights on market trends, valuation, and financing opportunities to support the company’s growth trajectory.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or related field.
- MBA or Master’s degree in Finance or a related field is strongly preferred.
- CPA, CMA, CFA, or equivalent professional certification is a plus.
- 10+ years of experience in finance or accounting, with at least 5 years in a finance leadership role at a public company or large PE backed company
- Strong understanding of software industry economics, including subscription/SaaS business models, margin structures, and key financial metrics (ARR, LTV, CAC, etc.).
- Expertise in financial planning and analysis (FP&A), with the ability to drive strategic financial initiatives while ensuring operational excellence.
- Exceptional leadership and team-building skills, with experience managing and developing high-performing finance teams.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to distill complex financial information for senior executives and other key stakeholders.
- Strategic thinker with strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
- Highly collaborative with the ability to work cross-functionally across multiple departments.
- Strong business acumen, with a deep understanding of financial markets and trends in the software industry.
- High level of integrity, with a strong commitment to ethical business practices and compliance.
