VMware Administrator Apply
As a trusted partner, Converge Technology Solutions is helping our client identify, screen and secure a full-time VMware Administrator to join their team on a full-time, permanent basis. This is an onsite position North of Lexington, Kentucky.
To be successful in this role, you should have a strong understanding of VMware vSphere as well as experience with migrating servers from Hyper-V to VMware. You will also be responsible for designing, deploying, and managing their virtualized environment, as well as automating various processes and tasks.
Responsibilities:
- Design, deploy, and manage VMware vSphere environments on a VxRail system.
- Migrate servers from Hyper-V to VMware
- Automate various processes and tasks using a scripting language (Powershell, Python, etc.).
- Backup and restore virtual machines using Veeam (experience preferred).
- Set up and manage high availability clusters.
- Develop system documentation, technical notes, and user guides.
- Train other personnel on VMware technologies.
- Troubleshoot hardware and software issues.
- Use monitoring tools to maintain uptime.
- Maintain knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server (a plus)
- Stay current with cloud operating environments (a plus)
- Participate in proof of concept, prototype, and pilot testing environments for VMware products.
Required Skills and Experience:
- 5+ years of experience with VMware vSphere
- Experience with migrating servers from Hyper-V to VMware
- Strong scripting skills (Powershell, Python, etc.)
- Experience with Veeam Backup & Replication (a plus)
- Experience with high availability clusters
- Knowledge of monitoring tools
- Knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server (a plus)
- Cloud operating environment knowledge (a plus)
- Experience with VxRails hardware
- Knowledge of Pure Storage (a plus)
