Position Overview:

The Vice President (VP) of Operations and Marketing is a key leadership role within the Greater Danbury Chamber of Commerce, responsible for ensuring that the organization operates efficiently while effectively engaging and promoting its membership. This is a hands-on position in a small but high-impact office, ideal for someone who is not only administratively strong and detail-oriented but also familiar with the Greater Danbury business community.

Reporting directly to the President, the VP helps oversee daily operations, manages internal systems, supports staff, and leads marketing, communications, and member engagement. The role is critical in enabling the President to focus on growth, strategic partnerships, and community leadership.

Key Responsibilities:

Operations & Administration

  • Oversee day-to-day office operations, ensuring efficient use of time, systems, and resources.

  • Maintain and improve the Chamber’s CRM, event registration, accounts receivable, and data reporting systems.

  • Manage internal calendars, timelines, and administrative workflows to support Chamber goals.

  • Provide executive-level support to the President, including documentation, scheduling, and meeting prep.

Marketing & Visibility

  • Develop and execute marketing campaigns to promote Chamber events, programs, and member benefits.

  • Ensure consistent branding across email, social media, print, and web communications.

  • Elevate the Chamber’s visibility and value within the regional business community.

  • Partner with local media, sponsors, and business leaders to promote Chamber initiatives.

Member Engagement & Growth

  • Help drive new membership growth through outreach, onboarding, and follow-up.

  • Lead structured member retention efforts, ensuring consistent communication and value delivery.

  • Collaborate on sponsorship packages and event marketing to generate revenue and engagement.

Team & Community Leadership

  • Supervise and support the Membership and Events Coordinators, fostering accountability and collaboration.

  • Serve as a central connector across the Chamber’s initiatives—ensuring programs align with business needs.

  • Represent the Chamber at public events, networking functions, and with local stakeholders.

  • Bring a strong understanding of local business and community dynamics, and a genuine interest in supporting regional growth.

Ideal Candidate Profile:

  • Familiarity with the Greater Danbury region and its business community.

  • Highly organized and detail-oriented, with experience managing office operations and team coordination.

  • Strong written and verbal communicator, especially for community-facing messaging.

  • Self-starter who thrives in a fast-paced, multitasking environment with limited administrative layers.

  • Skilled in CRM platforms, social media management, and Microsoft Office tools.

  • Experience in membership-based organizations, nonprofit operations, or business associations preferred.

  • 5+ years of relevant experience in operations, marketing, administration, or community/business development.
