Summary Description:

The Network Engineer is responsible for architecting, implementing, and providing tier 3 support for the technical infrastructure in the Wisconsin Court System. This position actively mentors CCAP technical staff to efficiently support court system network technology. They work closely with CCAP Technical Support engineers, Cybersecurity engineers, call center staff, and third-party vendors to analyze technical problems, and research technical solutions. The person in this position has and maintains the knowledge and skills necessary to design, support, and maintain the enterprise local and wide area networking infrastructure. This networking infrastructure directly supports the daily operations of all Wisconsin courts, including enterprise email and messaging services.
Tasks:

Train tier 3 technical staff to maintain and support production networking equipment and software.
Troubleshoot and respond to network design issues, system-generated alerts, and issues brought forth by CCAP tier 3 support staff.
Research new systems, techniques, or tools for the purpose of implementing new production systems or remediating existing technical problems.
Monitor production systems to proactively improve performance or resolve pending technical problems.
Reacts to technical emergencies, takes appropriate action.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:

Advanced knowledge of networking, including switches, routers, and operating systems.
Advanced skills in installing, supporting, and maintaining computers and related peripherals in a complex geographically dispersed technical enterprise.
Advanced knowledge of effective network security policies and procedures.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Strong collaboration and teamwork abilities.
Demonstrated ability to implement new hardware, address technical emergencies, and implement security policies.
Education and Experience Required:

A Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Computer Engineering or related field is preferred.
Senior level experience in complex technical implementation projects.
Lead experience in computer hardware and software installation and maintenance.
Experience in a senior capacity supporting enterprise computer networks.
Significant experience providing end-user support with key accountabilities for network support.
Experience in network security.
Discretion:
The responsibilities of this position involve applying technology to core functions of the Wisconsin Court System. This position is expected to solve complex technical problems with only limited direction and supervision.
Additional details:
- This position is for a part-time network engineer to assist in training internal staff on the design and support of the court system enterprise network infrastructure. This position will also consult in the design of network hardware upgrades and specific network troubleshooting.
- There is no additional travel requirement apart from coming into the office in Madison one day per week.
Pay range: $52 to $58 per hour on W2.
