Warehousing and Inventory Supervisor

Supply Chain


Purpose of the Position

The Warehousing and Inventory Supervisor is responsible for overseeing and directing inventory movement and shipping activities within the supply chain. This role researches and resolves inventory and shipping issues, oversees external warehousing operations to ensure service levels and timelines are met, and ensures accurate inventory reporting across all products. The position plays a key role in driving operational efficiency, inventory accuracy, and customer satisfaction.


Working Relationships

This position reports to the Warehousing and Inventory Operations Manager and supervises forklift operators across multiple facilities. The role works closely with plant operations, information services, traffic/logistics, production teams, and external warehouse partners to support inventory and shipping objectives.



Essential Functions

(The essential functions listed below are not intended to be all-inclusive. Duties may be adjusted based on business needs. Employees are responsible for reporting food safety and quality concerns to appropriate personnel.)

  1. Oversee operations at external warehouse locations, including:
  • Training leads and forklift operators
  • Ensuring inventory accuracy
  • Maintaining warehouse organization, cleanliness, and sanitation
  • Managing inbound and outbound orders
  • Ensuring safety compliance
  • Driving process improvement initiatives
  • Overseeing equipment usage and condition
  • Monitoring and reporting key performance indicators (KPIs)
  1. Control finished goods inventory through daily audits, cycle counts, reconciliations, and resolution of discrepancies.
  2. Direct the movement and storage of finished goods within external warehouses, considering storage requirements, dwell time, capacity constraints, and shipping needs.
  3. Research product history, inventory movement, and shipment data to resolve shipping and inventory issues.
  4. Monitor shipping activities and address product concerns such as holds, shelf-life issues, or quality-related constraints.
  5. Lead and develop direct reports by communicating goals and expectations, providing on-the-floor coaching, monitoring daily performance, and conducting regular one-on-one performance reviews. Manage workforce scheduling, maintain strong customer service standards, and drive operational efficiency.
  6. Document Control: Develop, implement, and maintain SOPs and SSOPs related to warehousing and inventory operations. Ensure documents are properly stored, approved, and maintained within the designated document control system, and ensure employees are trained on all applicable procedures.
  7. GMPs and Food Safety: Ensure compliance with and enforcement of all company policies related to GMPs, food safety standards, and prerequisite programs.
  8. Maintain regular attendance and work the necessary hours to successfully perform essential job functions.
  9. Identify and implement continuous improvement opportunities within warehouse and inventory operations.
  10. Perform duties under the working conditions described below.


Qualifications for Entry

Knowledge of:

  • Basic math and accounting principles
  • Inventory planning and control practices
  • Warehousing and distribution operations
  • Lean manufacturing and continuous improvement methodologies
  • Applicable federal, state, and local regulations
  • Warehouse scanning and inventory management technologies
  • SQL or other technical systems (preferred)


Ability to:

  • Communicate effectively across cross-functional teams
  • Perform accurate mathematical and accounting functions
  • Travel between local facilities using a personal vehicle
  • Create, extract, and analyze operational reports and data
  • Identify problems, evaluate alternatives, and implement solutions
  • Organize, plan, and execute operational priorities
  • Use computers and standard business software, including spreadsheets and databases
  • Demonstrate behaviors aligned with company performance and development standards


Experience, Certifications, and Training

  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience in inventory control, shipping, logistics, or a related field
  • Associate degree in business or a related field preferred
  • Supervisory experience in a food manufacturing or regulated environment preferred
  • Forklift certification required


Working Conditions

  • Primarily office-based with occasional exposure to warehouse, manufacturing, or outdoor environments
  • Occasional mandatory overtime
  • Periodic handling of confidential information
  • Frequent work under tight deadlines and seasonal business demands
  • Regular visits to external warehouse locations
  • Occasional travel, including overnight stays, for meetings or training


Physical Requirements:

  • Frequently lifts up to 10 pounds; occasionally lifts up to 50 pounds
  • Constant use of near vision
  • Frequent sitting, typing, talking, listening, and repetitive hand motions
  • Frequent standing, walking, and reaching
  • Occasional lifting, crouching, pulling, kneeling, pushing, stooping, and driving
  • Occasional exposure to odors or fumes
