Reports to: Warehouse Operations Manager Position Summary: The Warehouse Associate will be responsible for general warehouse work and driving. Essential Functions and Responsibilities Carry out and model best safety practices while in the warehouse as well as while operating warehouse equipment. Ability to lead a diverse group of volunteers and work collaboratively with staff. Safely drive truck / van to pick up or drop off donations from stores, organizations and individuals in a timely manner. Receive donated food; weigh and record receipt of food, sort and eliminate food items. Unload, sort, and properly store products in designated areas. Works well independently with minimum supervision. Willingness to work flexible hours and adapt to changing demands. Ability to handle multiple tasks and priorities simultaneously. Communicate effectively, organize, and take initiative. Follow instructions, including food safety guidelines. Complete paperwork accurately and thoroughly. Assure cleanliness of equipment and cleaning the warehouse. Utilize pallets jacks to move food from fridges/freezers to the pantry. Assist Pantry Lead/volunteers in the pantry as needed. Skills and Abilities Ability to obtain a safe food handling certificate. Safe Food Handling certificate must be obtained within 30 days of hire and renewed on a yearly basis. It is no cost to the employee. Ability to work effectively with the team. Physical Demands Ability to lift and/or move up to 50 lbs. Regularly required to stand, move around the warehouse, stoop, reach, use hands and bending. Able to drive box trucks and operate lift gates (preferred) Operate Manual and Electric jacks. Ability to work in warehouse environments with varying temperatures, including hot and cold conditions. Education and/or Experience High school diploma or equivalent education. 6 months to 1 year experience preferred. Must possess a valid driver’s license and acceptable DMV driving record. Basic computer skills: E-mail, Internet, basic typing skills for texting and entering timesheets.
