The Prince George's County Government Board of Elections is seeking qualified applicants to fill Warehouse Voting Unit Technician positions, grade G13, within its Information Technology Division. About the Position: The temporary technician positions in the Board of Elections Warehouse are being filled in preparation for Presidential Election. The incumbent must have excellent computer skills, excellent written and oral communication skills and be able to work in a fast-paced environment which can be stressful at times. The incumbent must be a team player and willing to assist with training. This position requires the ability to pay attention to detail, be able to read and understand written directions, have good interpersonal skills and be able to get along well with others. About the Agency The mission of the Prince George's County Board of Elections is to promote voter education, administer an efficient voting process, maintain an accurate voter registration database, and ensure that elected officials are elected in accordance with Federal, State, and County election laws. The Board of Elections is responsible for the supervision of elections, voter registration and record keeping, and the administration of election laws in Prince George's County, in accordance with The Election Law Article of the Annotated Code of Maryland. The Board and the Election Administrator seek to provide voter registration to every County citizen who wants it. Examples of Work What You'll Do : Prepares voting units and electronic pollbooks for all elections. Ensures that voting units and electronic pollbooks are properly charged and stored. Inventory and store confidential election related materials. Delivers and pick-up necessary supplies from Board of Elections headquarters. Packs and disseminates election day supplies. Conducts logic and accuracy testing of all voting equipment. Assists with training coordination of Election Day polling place activities. Assists with Election Judges supply and pick-up. Assists with training of election day workers. Assists judges in troubleshooting problems and provides instructions on the electronic pollbook and voting units. Experienced using computers with script copy. Assists with installing State required elections software, patches on election equipment and during Post maintenance. Pickup and transfer mail in ballots from various droboxes; and perform tasks and duties as assigned within responsibility level of this class of work. Qualifications What You'll Need : Must have experience at the Data Entry Operator II level equal to the length of the probationary period or High school diploma or G.E.D. certificate with training in basic computer systems and Two (2) years of experience in data entry/processing. Must be a registered voter in the state of Maryland. Any equivalent combination of relevant education, training and experience which provides the necessary skills required of the position will also be accepted. Be a registered voter in the state of Maryland and must submit to and pass a criminal background check Have a valid Maryland Driver's License to travel to different polling places during the election cycle in order to meet election-related deadlines. Meet all training and performance standards and demonstrate proficiency as required by the agency. Wear and use agency protective apparel and equipment in the performance of their assigned duties, if applicable. May be required to successfully pass preemployment checks which may include reference checks, background investigations, and drug screenings, where applicable. Due to the nature of the service provided by this agency, all employees are considered essential during an election cycle. The election cycle begins three months prior to an election and continues one month following the election or until the election is certified. As an essential employee you WILL NOT be authorized to take leave during an election cycle. Additionally, you will be required to work specified weekends and holidays.
