As a Water Distribution Maintenance Worker I for the City of Borger, you play a crucial role in maintaining the integrity and efficiency of the city's water distribution system. This entry-level position involves hands-on tasks related to the installation, maintenance, and repair of water lines, meters, and associated infrastructure. Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Maintenance and Repair: Perform routine maintenance and repairs on water distribution systems, including pipes, valves, hydrants, and service lines.
Installation Tasks: Assist in the installation of new water distribution infrastructure, including laying pipe and installing meters and hydrants.
System Monitoring: Monitor the condition of the water distribution system and report any issues or potential problems to supervisors.
Emergency Response: Participate in emergency response teams for water leaks, pipe bursts, and other urgent maintenance issues.
Tools and Equipment Operation: Safely operate tools and equipment necessary for maintenance and repair tasks, such as wrenches, shovels, and mechanical cutters.
Compliance and Safety: Adhere to all safety protocols and regulatory requirements to ensure operations are carried out safely and compliantly.
Typical Qualifications
Education: High school diploma or equivalent; vocational training or certifications in plumbing, pipefitting, or a related field are a plus.
Experience: Experience in construction, plumbing, or a related field is beneficial but not required.
Certifications: Certification from the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) as a Class C Water Operator within 2 y ears of the date of employment.
Skills: Basic understanding of water distribution systems, ability to use hand and power tools, good physical condition.
