Position Summary
Avantax is seeking a Wealth Management Growth Consultant who will be a business partner to the Regional Director of the assigned region and will be responsible for building deep relationships with Avantax firms and financial professionals by consistently executing a segmented and intentional engagement model that includes 1:1 firm interaction and highly tailored consulting and communications that can be virtual as well as face-to-face through Growth Through Community and Rise to Elite meetings, as well as local conferences. As a conduit to resources, regional partners, and internal and external teams, they will educate and provide timely insights, data, client acquisition ideas, and opportunities to develop for firms to create momentum and the next steps Their focus will include delivering quality connections to build and improve firm and advisor sentiment, support retention, and help identify, qualify, and drive tax-intelligent wealth management and planning opportunities for the sale funnel. They will support firms' priorities/goals and initiatives around practice development, expansion, transition, or transformation. This consulting professional will drive regional NNA and revenue growth through pipeline creation and management that is influenced by strong discovery, profiling, and firm assessment/SWOT, leveraging tools, best practices, goal setting, business plans, FP dashboard action items, and relevant and timely ideas and information in business-critical areas including practice management, investment strategies, and scale/process/efficiencies, marketing, client engagement, strategic partnerships, and succession/continuity planning.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
The major responsibilities of the position are listed below. To perform the job successfully, the individual must be able to execute each essential duty satisfactorily. Duties may include but are not limited to:
Client engagement:
  • Responsible for driving revenue, Net New Assets, and retirement plan growth within the assigned territory.
  • Increasing advisor retention and improving firm sentiment within the assigned territory.
  • Travel to main Avantax conferences and flexibility to meet assigned firms/FPs in their markets (~5-10% travel) based on strategic plan priorities.
  • Foster strong relationships with 70-100 affiliated firms in assigned regions as the face of Avantax.
  • Act as a business partner, consultant, and advocate, coach through regular, systematic communications including phone calls, emails, and face-to-face meetings at the firm, Growth through Community meetings, Rise to Elite sessions, or our events.
  • Assist advisors in growing their business through firm discovery, FP goal setting/priorities, highlighting sales ideas, and best practices, identifying client opportunities, and engaging case design teams, third-party providers, and subject matter experts.
  • Assess, inform, and present best practices & solutions to firms and support action plans, introductions to internal/external resources, and increase referrals to advance cases.
  • Advance industry education/and working knowledge of products and services of all educational partners, and the Avantax advisory platform, and solutions will best serve clients and prospects.
  • Connect and foster relationships with Advisors and Educational Partners to support practice development, and collaboration on ideas that help identify new opportunities, and develop cases, that drive planning and growth.
  • Complete thorough profiling of segmented firms in your region, including SWOT assessments, goal setting, priorities/plans, and support client acquisition strategies through pipeline calls.
  • Identify firms/FPs who are ideal candidates for Avantaxs Rise to Elite (RTE) Coaching Program and want to take their practices to the next level.
  • Encourage documented and defined business continuity and succession planning for assigned firms refer plan execution needs to the internal succession team, and collaborate on opportunities to introduce other Avantax FPs (elite or other firms), the strategic partnership program, or Avantax Planning Partners.
Collaboration with internal teams:
  • Act as a partner and voice for the advisors when connecting ideas, questions, or opportunities with your region business partner, internal team members, and subject matter experts.
  • Participate in RTE sessions based on FPs enrolled from your region, and provide ongoing partnership and accountability with ideas, advanceable cases, and pipeline calls for all RET students who are financial professionals throughout the 12-week program.
  • Refer advisors to the appropriate product or solutions professional for pre-sale case analysis, plan design, presentations to clients or implementation, or service teams for operations and service resolution or escalation.
  • Highlight self-service and turnkey marketing materials, and educational opportunities through Marketing Mastermind sessions, and Avantax Mastermind virtual sessions groups to support firm client and prospect initiatives, engagement strategies, and communications plans.
  • Educate firms and advisors on new technology, system enhancements, webinars or training opportunities, advisory program enhancements, compliance or regulatory reminders, and teams or tools that can provide greater information or answer questions.
Leadership and teamwork:
  • Build strong relationships across the Growth Consulting team, with your region teammates, all Avantax business and product teams, elite business strategists, educational partners, and specialists by initiating and fostering collaboration.
  • Share best practices on business building and client acquisition ideas with advisors, and firms, through case studies at GTC Meetings, and internally and externally with other teams.
  • Participate in Planning and Growth Solutions (PGS) Weekly meetings.
  • Lead new ideas, educational or business-building initiatives, and projects that support NNA and revenue growth, sentiment improvement, and greater retention.
Education & Experience
  • 5+ years in a wealth management role.
  • FINRA 7 & 63 licenses are required.
  • State insurance licensing is preferred.
  • AIF, RMA, RICP, or CFP designation or similar preferred.
  • BS/BA in business, finance, economics, accounting, or related field a plus.
Required skills:
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office; especially PowerPoint, Excel, and Word.
  • Tableau, Salesforce, and Envestnet experience/usage are a plus.
  • Demonstrated ability to be an integral team member on large-scale, projects, as well as organized and focused on individual and detailed initiatives, communications, and CRM responsibilities.
  • Highly energetic self-starter who brings ideas, solutions, accountability, and teamwork to the region.
