POSITION SUMMARY:

Perform Aluminum MIG Arc Welding (AMAW) on fixtures, parts, and ramps. May do some TIG welding. Must be able to read blueprints, follow job orders and learn welding techniques and procedures for aluminum trailers. Will operate and maintain setups. Must recognize and be conscious of finished trailers' quality, tolerance, and accuracy. Alert to visually detect obvious defects. Work is given supervision, inspection, and check; instructions and guidance are provided on new work, procedural variations, and difficulties.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Reads job orders and blueprint specifications.
  • Check the blueprint and job order before starting any operation. Refer to the blueprint throughout the day.
  • Conserves resources by using equipment and supplies as needed to accomplish job results.
  • Flip the trailer, with the help of a flipper or co-worker, in order to weld the other side of the trailer.
  • Verifies specifications by inspecting completed components.
  • Responsible for the safety of the equipment he/she is using. Responsible for notifying the lead or manager of the need for equipment repairs.
  • Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
  • Recognize obvious defective or damaged parts, incorrect sizes, faulty workmanship, and general quality. Double check job order to finished product.
  • Evaluates and recommend changes in methods and procedures.
  • Must be able to follow directives and procedures and complete paperwork.
  • Work area must be maintained as clean and organized.
  • Work in compliance with all safety, quality, quantity, and housekeeping standards in accordance with company policies.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned by management.
  • Supports all Continuous Improvement initiatives, including 6S and Kaizen events.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Aluminum welding experience is required. Must pass an aluminum weld test.
  • Must be able to read blueprints.
  • Must be able to read a tape measure and follow a job order.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills are required.
