$28.00 hourly
PRIMARY PURPOSE
The welder-fitter will need to have manual dexterity and the ability to use hand and power tools as
needed. Various welding equipment will be used, such as Flux core, MIG, TIG, stick welders, air arc machine
and cutting torches. Must be able to read engineering sketches and drawings, understand welding
symbols.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND FUNCTIONS
  1. Layout, positions, and secures parts and assemblies according to specifications.
  2. Determines required equipment, welding method and welding techniques.
  3. Develops templates and other work aids to hold and align parts.
  4. Ignites torch and adjusts valves, amperage, or voltage to obtain desired flame or arc.
  5. Tack-welds or welds components and assemblies.
  6. Heats, forms, and dresses metal parts, using hand tools, torch, or arc welding equipment.
  7. Welds components in flat, vertical, or overhead positions.
  8. Removes rough spots from work piece, using portable grinder, hand file, or scraper.
  9. Inspects grooves, angles, or gap allowances, using micrometer, caliper, and precision measuring
  10. instruments.
  11. Follow blueprints to arrange metal pieces and temporarily fix them into position before welding.
  12. Keep work area clean and organized.
  13. Make recommendations for process improvements.
  14. Perform equipment inspections prior to use.
  15. Report equipment malfunctions or safety concerns to the Plant and/or Maintenance Manager.
  16. Work accordingly to meet Safety and Quality goals.
  17. Work with team to balance workload to meet On Time Delivery goals.
  18. Manage company resources to ensure budgetary integrity and client satisfaction.
  19. Deburr and grind metal as necessary to achieve proper surface texture.
MINIMUM REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
  1. Knowledge of welding techniques, tools and equipment.
  2. Must be detail oriented, self-motivated and disciplined with the ability to multi-task.
  3. Demonstrated mechanical aptitude.
  4. Able to read and interpret blueprints.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  1. Knowledge of welding techniques in the following areas: oxygen-acetylene, electric arc, MIG and TIG and other types of weld based on project needs.
  2. Knowledge regarding proper fillers for weld jobs.
  3. Highly skilled in the use of MIG, FCAW & TIG welding processes on a variety of Stainless Steel, Carbon Steel, and Aluminum components and is able to pass certification tests to ASME and AWS codes.
  4. Possess a working knowledge of all applicable manufacturers and industry standards (CMAA, HMI, ANSI, and OSHA).
  5. Strong analytical, conceptual and planning skills.
  6. Excellent math skills and overall PC literacy (Microsoft Office).
