Senior Welder / Fitter – Structural & Sheet Metal Fabrication Ixonia, WI Position Overview We are looking for a high-level Welder/Fitter —a true fabricator—who can take ownership of a project from print to finished weldment. This role is ideal for someone experienced in building structural frames and sheet metal assemblies without reliance on fixtures . While we manufacture a defined product line, each build is customized to meet specific customer requirements . This is not repetitive fixture welding —it requires critical thinking, adaptability, and strong fabrication fundamentals on every job. You won’t be standing at a fixture running the same parts all day. You will be building, adjusting, and owning your work . Core Responsibilities Take full ownership of fabrication projects from layout through final weld Independently fit and weld structural frames and sheet metal assemblies without dedicated fixtures or jigs Build and adapt product configurations based on customer-specific requirements and drawings Read and interpret blueprints, weld symbols, and fabrication drawings with accuracy Plan and execute proper weld sequences to maintain dimensional integrity Verify fit-up, alignment, and dimensions throughout the build process Identify issues proactively and take responsibility for resolving them Maintain a high standard of workmanship, appearance, and structural quality Communicate effectively with supervisors and team members when challenges arise Contribute to a culture of accountability, reliability, and continuous improvement What We’re Looking For 5+ years of experience in custom fabrication (not production fixture welding) Strong background in structural frames and sheet metal fabrication Proven ability to fabricate accurately without fixturing High level of blueprint reading and layout skills Deep understanding of weld sequencing, distortion control, and fit-up techniques Self‑motivated with a strong sense of ownership and pride in your work Dependable, consistent, and accountable—someone the team can rely on Ability to work independently with minimal supervision Key Traits for Success Ownership mindset – You take responsibility for the final product, not just the welding Dependability – You show up ready to perform and follow through on commitments Accountability – You stand behind your work and correct issues when needed Attention to detail – You care about fit, finish, and doing it right the first time Adaptability – You can adjust builds based on custom requirements, not just repeat a process Problem‑solving ability – You can think through challenges without relying on fixtures What We Offer Competitive pay based on skill and experience Challenging, meaningful work on custom‑built equipment within a product line A shop environment that values skill, precision, and craftsmanship Opportunity to grow with a company that rewards reliability and performance Why This Role Matters At Quality Product Solutions, every build reflects our reputation.
