Welder Supervisor Mig Welding / FabricationMaverick Manufacturing Inc. is seeking an experienced welder supervisor to oversee daily MIG welding and fabrication operations. This is a hands-on leadership position responsible for supervising welders, supporting production schedules, maintaining quality standards, and ensuring safe and efficient workflow.The ideal candidate must have strong MIG welding experience, the ability to read basic drawings and measurements, and the leadership skills to guide, train, and hold team members accountable. This position will primarily oversee welding and assembly for pallet racking uprights and load beams, while also supporting fabrication of yard ramps, dock ramps, dock platforms, mezzanine staircases, diamond plate/grating components, safety cages, and other custom miscellaneous products.Bilingual communication in English and Spanish is required.Key ResponsibilitiesSupervise and lead the daily work of MIG welders and fabrication employees.Assign work based on production priorities, skill level, and delivery schedules.Perform hands-on MIG welding when needed to support production.Oversee welding and assembly of pallet rack uprights, load beams, yard ramps, dock ramps, platforms, mezzanine staircases, cages, and miscellaneous fabricated products.Review work orders, drawings, measurements, and production instructions before work begins.Confirm weld quality, fit-up, dimensions, alignment, and finished product appearance.Train employees on proper welding techniques, setup, safety practices, and production expectations.Monitor employee productivity, attendance, work quality, and compliance with company policies.Identify production problems early and communicate issues to management.Coordinate with production, shipping, material handling, and quality control teams.Ensure tools, welding machines, fixtures, jigs, and work areas are properly maintained.Enforce safety rules, PPE requirements, housekeeping standards, and proper material handling.Assist with corrective action, coaching, and employee performance feedback when needed.Help reduce rework, scrap, wasted labor, and production delays.Maintain a professional, respectful, and accountable work environment.Required QualificationsMinimum 5 years of MIG welding experience in a manufacturing, fabrication, or structural steel environment.Prior lead, supervisor, foreman, or team-lead experience preferred.Bilingual in English and Spanish required.Strong knowledge of MIG welding procedures, fit-up, grinding, measuring, and fabrication practices.Ability to read tape measures, basic shop drawings, work orders, and production notes.Experience working with steel components, tubing, beams, channels, plates, grating, or similar materials.Ability to inspect welds for quality, consistency, strength, and appearance.Strong communication and leadership skills.Ability to train, correct, and motivate employees in a professional manner.Must be dependable, punctual, organized, and able to work under production deadlines.Must be willing to work overtime when production needs require it.Preferred QualificationsExperience with pallet rack, material handling equipment, ramps, platforms, stairs, or industrial steelForklift experience.Familiarity with welding fixtures, jigs, saws, grinders, drills, and fabrication equipment.Ability to assist with production planning and workflow improvements.Prior experience in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.Physical RequirementsMust be able to stand, bend, lift, push, pull, and work in a shop/manufacturing environment.Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. as needed.Must be able to wear required PPE, including welding helmet, gloves, safety glasses, hearing protection, and steel-toe footwear.Must be able to work around welding equipment, grinders, forklifts, steel materials, and production machinery.This position requires a hands-on supervisor who can lead by example. The welder supervisor must be able to balance production speed, quality, safety, and employee accountability.
