JOB SUMMARY

Wellness Coordinator Job Description

  • Develop and coordinate fitness and wellness programs, events, and services, such as yoga, aerobics, weightlifting, and aquatics, ensuring a diversity of class offerings.
  • Develop and coordinate with other departments to produce wellness and fitness education and resources such as newsletters, contributions to the Messenger, and focused seminars for residents and staff.
  • Teach fitness classes to improve strength, flexibility, cardiovascular conditioning, or general fitness of participants.
  • Track attendance, participation, or performance data related to wellness events.
  • Maintain or arrange for maintenance of fitness equipment or facilities.
  • Develop marketing campaigns to promote a healthy lifestyle or participation in fitness and wellness programs.
  • Conduct surveys to determine interest in, or satisfaction with, wellness and fitness programs, events, or services
  • Orient contractors and outside providers and coordinate schedules of health, fitness, and wellness practitioners.
  • Respond to customer for information about wellness programs or services.
  • Organize fitness or wellness events or programs, such as information presentations, blood drives, or organized runs or walks.
  • Operate, and instruct others in, proper operation of fitness equipment, such as weight machines, exercise bicycles, benches, hand weights, and fitness assessment devices.
  • Manage or oversee fitness or recreation facilities, ensuring safe and clean facilities and equipment including pool.
  • Maintain wellness- and fitness-related schedules, records, or reports.
  • Partner with Clinical, Facilities Services, and Rehab. Vendor to ensure residents receiving appropriate services, have well-maintained fitness areas, and have access to additional services and education as needed.
  • Support Recreation Department and Connected Living Department events and classes
  • Cross train with other areas of the Recreation Department and Connected Living Department and assist with group facilitation as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned

Requirements

As part of our commitment to health and safety for staff and residents, we require staff to be vaccinated for COVID-19 with booster.

SKILLS, ABILITIES AND EXPERIENCE

Interest in working with an older population.

Clear verbal communication in English and comfort in leading group discussions

Recreation/Gym programming experience

3+ years experience leading exercise classes

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS/LICENSES/CERTIFICATES

BS in Kinesiology, Nutrition, Exercise, Health Science, Education, or Related Field

AFAA Group Certification (preferred, but not required)

OBRA & TITLE 22 REQUIREMENTS

Current First-Aid Certification or the ability to become First-Aid Certified
