Technical Advisor – Wind Repower (Vestas V82) Location: Iowa Falls, Iowa Travel: 100% (project-based travel) Duration: 8-Month Contract Schedule: 50 hours per week Pay Rate: $45.00/hour Per Diem: Yes FLSA Status: Non-Exempt (Overtime eligible) Position Summary The Technical Advisor (TA) serves as the onsite technical authority supporting wind repower and major component projects. This role provides hands-on technical oversight, troubleshooting expertise, and supervision for site execution teams performing installation, maintenance, and major component exchanges on wind turbines. The TA is responsible for reviewing plant engineering documents and P&IDs, coordinating labor and equipment resources, and ensuring work is executed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with OEM and site standards. This position requires extensive Vestas V82 experience and the ability to proactively resolve technical challenges to minimize downtime and project delays. Key Responsibilities Provide onsite technical leadership and oversight for wind repower and major component projects Review and interpret engineering drawings, P&IDs, and work scopes to guide execution teams Support and oversee major component exchanges (gearboxes, generators, blades, etc.) Coordinate crane operations, rigging activities, and site logistics Troubleshoot complex mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic turbine issues Perform and support installation, preventive maintenance, repair, and calibration activities Ensure compliance with safety policies, LOTO procedures, and site-specific requirements Coach, mentor, and train technicians to improve performance and technical capability Participate in safety programs and support site safety metrics Complete daily logs, technical reports, and job status documentation Collaborate with site management to ensure project milestones are met Other duties as assigned Required Qualifications 8–10 years of wind industry experience , including 3+ years in supervisory or leadership roles Vestas V82 turbine experience (required) Minimum 2 years of major component exchange and crane operations experience Proven ability to troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems Strong knowledge of wind turbine systems and field execution best practices Ability to articulate solutions, not just report problems Excellent organizational, communication, and leadership skills Willingness and ability to travel 100% of the time Preferred Education & Certifications College degree or technical school preferred Proficiency in MS Office 365 Preferred certifications and training include: GWO BST & GWO BTT OSHA 10 or 30 NFPA 70E (or equivalent) Confined Space LOTO (Vestas or OEM equivalent) Rigging & hand/radio signaling Forklift (Class 7) Hazard Communication OEM competency certifications (maintenance, troubleshooting, major components) #J-18808-Ljbffr
