Wireless Network Field Technician Apply
Job Description
Strata Networks is hiring a Wireless Network Field Technician to help build, maintain, and improve our LTE and IP-based wireless network across rural Utah. This is a hands-on, mid-level technical role for someone who enjoys solving problems in the field, learning new technologies, and taking ownership of network performance.
You’ll be part of a small, capable wireless team that keeps thousands of customers connected every day.
What you’ll actually doThis is not a narrow “one-tool” job. You’ll work across the LTE ecosystem—radio, transport, fiber, and IP—depending on what the network needs.
Your work will include:
Installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting LTE/5G base stations, routers, switches, fiber backhaul, and DC power systems
Monitoring network health using alarms, KPIs, and testing tools—and fixing issues before customers notice
Bringing new sites and services online, including configuring routers, switches, VLANs, QoS, and basic routing
Troubleshooting RF paths, antennas, fiber, and IP connectivity using tools like spectrum analyzers, OTDRs, Wireshark, and traceroute
Responding to network events, outages, and on-call issues with clear communication and solid technical judgment
Working closely with the core network team, NOC, and vendors to resolve issues and improve performance
Keeping sites clean, documented, and operating safely
Mentoring junior technicians as you grow in the role
Because this is a rural network with a lean team, adaptability matters. You’ll sometimes step outside a narrow job description to help keep the network stable—especially during emergencies or severe weather events.
What we’re looking forYou don’t need to know everything on day one—but you do need strong fundamentals and a willingness to learn.
Required:
Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in IT, Networking, Telecommunications, Electronics—or equivalent hands-on experience
Foundational knowledge of IP networking
Valid driver’s license and ability to obtain a DOT medical certificate
Ability to earn CompTIA Network+ within 6 months
Nice to have (but not required):
CCNA, CWNA, or wireless/RAN certifications
Experience with LTE/5G networks or vendor equipment (Nokia, Ericsson, Samsung, etc.)
Experience with Cisco routers, switches, and firewalls
Basic scripting or automation exposure (Python or Bash)
Field-based role with travel between sites; occasional overnight travel
On-call rotation, including some weekends and holidays
Work at heights, in confined spaces, and in extreme weather
Lift up to 50 lbs and safely climb ladders and towers
You’ll work on a real production network, with real responsibility, alongside people who value reliability, teamwork, and learning. If you want a role where your work directly impacts customers—and you don’t mind getting your boots dirty—this is worth a conversation.
