X-Ray Technologist

The X-Ray Technologist is responsible for conducting diagnostic imaging procedures in alignment with departmental protocols and guidelines. This role involves working with patients across various ages, cultural backgrounds, and physical conditions, ensuring efficient and compassionate care. The technologist collaborates with interdisciplinary teams to provide high-quality service in a dynamic and patient-focused environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Diagnostic Imaging: Perform high-quality imaging exams, ensuring accuracy and compliance with physician orders. Safely and proficiently operate imaging equipment, including radiographic, portable, fluoroscopic, and C-arm devices.
  • Patient Care: Prepare patients for imaging procedures by assessing pain levels, explaining processes, confirming ID with two forms of verification, and conducting necessary education. Ensure patient safety and comfort during procedures.
  • Equipment Management: Utilize and maintain imaging systems and ancillary equipment, such as PACS, RIS, computed radiography, and positioning devices. Perform regular equipment quality control checks.
  • Documentation: Record and maintain accurate patient histories, procedure details, and post-procedure instructions. Ensure timely and accurate data entry into relevant hospital systems.
  • Safety and Compliance: Adhere to all safety guidelines, including infection control measures, ALARA principles, and radiation safety protocols. Stay current with hospital safety policies and emergency procedures.
  • Collaboration and Leadership: Provide work direction to team members as needed and promote a culture of teamwork and accountability.

Required Skills and Competencies:

  • Strong interpersonal and customer service skills.
  • Knowledge of pediatric and diverse patient populations.
  • Ability to multitask, pay attention to detail, and prioritize effectively.
  • Proficient in using hospital information systems, document scanners, and other relevant technology.
  • Understanding of anatomy, radiographic positioning, and quality control processes.

Qualifications:

  • Graduation from a JRCERT-accredited program in Radiologic Technology or equivalent.
  • ARRT registration or successful completion of the ARRT Limited Scope of Practice exam (must achieve full registration within six months of hire).
  • Current CPR certification.
  • Familiarity with safety and infection control protocols.

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience working with imaging systems like PACS.
  • Knowledge of safety protocols, including infection control and radiation safety.
  • Background in pediatric imaging or experience with diverse patient populations.
