FORT LAUDERDALE UNITED FC | USL Gainbridge Super League OPEN POSITION · ACCOUNTING & FINANCE Staff Accountant Location: Fort Lauderdale, FL | NSU / Beyond Bancard Field Type: Full-Time Reports To: Controller / Accounting Manager Department: Accounting & Finance FLSA Status: Exempt ABOUT THE ORGANIZATION Fort Lauderdale United FC is a professional women's soccer club competing in the USL Gainbridge Super League, based at Beyond Bancard Field on the Nova southeastern University campus in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. FTL UTD operates as part of FTL UTD Holdings — a multi-sport platform spanning soccer, volleyball, flag football, futsal, lacrosse, and basketball, with a men's USL League One team launching in 2027. We are building one of the most ambitious sports platforms in South Florida. THE OPPORTUNITY We are seeking a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to support the day-to-day financial operations of FTL UTD Holdings. This role will work closely with the finance team to ensure accurate financial reporting, maintain strong internal controls, and support the continued growth of a multi-entity sports platform. You will play a key role in core accounting functions, assist with close processes, and contribute to building scalable financial infrastructure across the organization. CORE RESPONSIBILITIES General Ledger & Journal Entries Prepare and post daily, weekly, and monthly journal entries with proper documentation and support Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts to ensure accuracy and completeness Assist with month-end and year-end close processes, including accruals and deferrals Account Reconciliation Perform monthly bank and credit card reconciliations in a timely manner Reconcile balance sheet accounts and investigate and resolve discrepancies Maintain schedules for prepaid expenses, fixed assets, and accrued liabilities Accounts Payable & Receivable Support Process vendor invoices, expense reports, and check requests for payment Assist with billing, collections follow-up, and cash receipts posting Monitor aging reports and escalated outstanding items as needed Financial Reporting Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements Generate reports and analysis to support management decision-making Support the preparation of audit schedules and respond to auditor inquiries Compliance & Controls Ensure transactions are recorded in accordance with GAAP and company policies Identify and communicate internal control weaknesses to management Support tax filings including sales tax, 1099 preparation, and property tax returns Other Duties Assist with special projects, process improvements, and system implementations Cross-train with other accounting team members to provide backup coverage Perform ad hoc analysis and reporting as requested by management QUALIFICATIONS Required Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a closely related field 1–3 years of accounting experience (internships considered for entry-level roles) Solid understanding of GAAP principles and the accounting cycle Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, formulas) Experience with accounting software (QuickBooks, NetSuite, Sage, or similar) Strong attention to detail and high level of accuracy Ability to prioritize and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment Preferred CPA candidate or active pursuit of CPA licensure Experience with ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics) Knowledge of accounts payable, accounts receivable, or payroll processes Sports or entertainment industry experience preferred WHAT WE’RE REALLY LOOKING FOR We're looking for someone who is detail-driven, reliable, and takes ownership of their work.
