Job Description:

Opportunity available with the Spectrolab Team for Assembler in our Sylmar, CA facility.

  • Performs complex production assembly operations on structural parts, mechanical assemblies, subassemblies, equipment and accessories using manual or automated assembly tools.
  • Position Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
  • Performs the processes necessary for the fabrication and production of Solar Cells, including Photolithography, Cap Etch/Window Clean, Thinning, Lift-Off, Evaporation, Sinter, Saw-Dice, Lot Code, electrical testing, microscope inspection and Silicon Diodes.
  • Performs the processes necessary for growth of semiconductors, including operation of MOCVD vacuum system, Metal Organic material handling and X-Ray Diffraction.
  • Performs a variety of technical manufacturing production assembly operations where accurate visual acuity and manual dexterity are required to fabricate production solar cell assemblies and solar panels for space applications.
  • Perform hand soldering, wire harness assembly and component bonding
  • Complete documentation accurately
  • Operates tools and equipment such as wire strippers, crimpers, solder iron, wire identification and associated tools
  • Adheres to established company policies and procedures, paying special attention to safety regulations
  • Demonstrated experience using a computer to look up and record information (Excel & Word)
  • This position requires the ability to work first or second shift
  • Ability to read blueprints, schematics, and work instructions
  • Reliable, mechanically inclined, detail orientated
  • Ability to work in a team atmosphere and displays a positive attitude
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Work overtime as required
  • Must be able to lift a minimum of20 lbs.
  • Must wear a smock, hair cover, and gloves during work
  • Requires accurate visual acuity
  • Microsoft Excel, Word and Power point experience.
  • Inspection Under Microscope experience
  • Assembly of small parts
  • Weld / Soldering experience
  • Sit or stand for more than 8 hours a day.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • High School Diploma or equivalent or military/ work experience.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Suite (i.e. Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access)
  • Minimum of 6 months of experience in a manufacturing or assembly environment
  • Ability to lift 20lbs

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • Experience using SAP

Education / Experience:

  • Education/experience typically acquired through basic education (e.g. High School diploma/GED) and typically 1 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience (e.g. vocational school/Associate).

Additional Comments:

  • This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed location option.
  • This operation works on a 9/80 schedule. A 9/80 work schedule comprises two-week periods in which employees work eight nine-hour days, one eight-hour day, and one day off.
  • Must be able to work any shift, overtime and holidays as required.
  • TOP 3-5 MUST HAVE REQUIRED SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS:
