Project/Unit Description
The GTRI CIPHER Lab's Secure Information Systems (SIS) Division is currently seeking a cyber security software engineer for its
Maverick team. The division concentrates on the design and development of secure real-world, multi-compartment, multi-level
information sharing applications. Hardware and software design methodologies are combined to deliver information exchange solutions
that pass the rigorous testing required to operate on the nation's most secure networks. SIS solutions are nationally recognized within
the government as state-of-the-art, affordable, secure, and scalable. While many project requirements necessitate in-office presence,
we strive to support work life balance by allowing occasional remote work when feasible. Candidates should be prepared for on-site
work with specifics determined based on project needs and employee performance.
Job Purpose
The Cyber Security Software Engineer designs, develops, and tests cybersecurity software in languages such as Java, C, and C++. The Cyber Security Software Engineer requires extensive knowledge of programming languages, software development, and computer operating systems in order to apply engineering principles to software creation. The necessary skill areas for the Cyber Security Software Engineer include programming and coding, fundamentals of computer science, design and architecture, algorithms and data structures, information analysis, debugging software, and testing software. The Cyber Security Software Engineer also creates novel cyber security technology components and software to ensure that critical systems and information are resilient to cyber exploits and attacks. The researcher also performs attendant vulnerability assessments, analysis, and software engineering and design. The Cyber Security Software Engineer also develops hardware and software prototypes, and tests those prototypes in realistic environments.
Key Responsibilities
Design, test, and develop computer software in order to meet requirements.
Develop and maintain kernel and user-level software and scripts
Contribute to research reports, white papers, and competitive proposals
Required Minimum Qualifications
Ability to earn a Master's degree
1 or more years of web application development experience
Solid understanding of web applications
Solid understanding of an Object Oriented Programing Language (Java, C#, etc)
Solid understanding of HTML and CSS
Front-end framework experience (Angular, React, Vue, etc.)
Linux, terminal interface experience
Experience with source code management tools (Git, Subversion) and contributing to large code-bases, and an understanding of
the software development lifecycle
Preferred Qualifications Active TS/SCI Clearance
Demonstrated experience with full-stack development
Proficiency in Java
Experience with testing frameworks (TestNG, JUnit, Mockito, Jasmine, etc.)
Experience working with the U.S. government
Experience with build automation tools (Gradle, Maven, etc.)
Experience with Linux operating systems
Experience with Gitlab
Experience with Angular and AngularJs
Experience designing APIs and building RESTful services
Experience with relational databases
