Data Processing Clerk - SR-10 Apply
Duties Summary
Performs clerical work in reviewing input/output data for accuracy and completeness; operates data entry equipment such as computer workstation or video display terminal to input data from source documents; performs auxiliary operations on other equipment; and performs other related duties as required.
There is one (1) temporary full-time vacancy not-to-exceed December 31, 2024 with the Office of Aging in Hilo.
The eligible list may be used for other permanent and temporary vacancies as they arise during the life of the list. Temporary appointment may lead to conversion to permanent appointment.
Examples of Duties
- Receives source documents in numerous format submitted by divisions, departments and/or agencies.
- Screens the documents to verify the number of documents in each batch, and balances quantities with the total reported on transmittal slips.
- Reviews, audits, and edits the documents for completeness, error or omission of coded data and initiates and takes appropriate corrective action.
- Balances summary output totals against control ledgers, investigating and taking corrective action when an unbalance situation occurs.
- Operates data entry equipment in inputting and verifying data from source documents.
- Develops data input formats and documentation for various applications; makes corrections and changes.
- May operate other computer-related equipment as required.
- Performs other clerical duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualification Requirements
Training and Experience:
A combination of education and experience substantially equivalent to:
- graduation from high school, and
- two (2) years of clerical experience involving the review of data for compliance with established rules, regulations and/or procedures, of which
- one (1) year shall have included experience as an operator of data entry equipment such as keypunch machine, computer workstation or video display terminal.

Knowledge of: data input-output requirements as they relate to various machine applications; source document forms and uses; application of codes and coding procedures; office practices and procedures.
Ability to: operate data equipment; identify source document inaccuracies and inadequacies and effect necessary corrections; maintain ledgers, registers, check lists, etc., to control input-output data and insure meeting project schedules and deadlines; read and understand process flow charts; think quickly and logically; maintain effective working relationships with others.
Physical Requirements: Persons seeking appointment to positions in this class must meet the health and physical condition standards deemed necessary and proper for performance of the duties.
