Database Administrator C Position: Database Administrator C Location: Tallahassee, FL 32301 (Onsite) Duration: 3+ Months Job Description: Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or other related field or equivalent work experience. Experience: The candidate must have skill and five (5) years combined experience in database administration for the following database platforms: Experience with IBM DB2 Proficient with SQL Server 2016 and above Proficient with Oracle 19c and above Experience with Azure SQL is a plus. Primary Job Duties/Tasks: Daily operational and database administration activities Plan, design, implement, support for database structures Conduct database performance monitoring and tuning Develop and maintain database administration procedures and documentation Perform SQL Code reviews Assist with training/mentoring other technical staff Job Specific Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs): Knowledge of the principles, practices and techniques of relational database management systems Ability to work independently in the technical analysis, evaluation and resolution of large Enterprise database production issues or problems, with little or no assistance, and to make decisions and recommendations to remediate those issues or problems Knowledge of Relational Database Management principles, design and practices Ability to plan, organize, coordinate, and prioritize work assignments for him/herself or lower level database analysts Skill in accurately estimating time requirements for database analysis and administration tasks for a project Skill in customer service Ability to work effectively with Project Managers, Business Analysts, Data Analysts, to build efficient, long term solutions in the development of databases utilizing all established departmental standards Ability to analyze processes and workflows to design efficient database solutions Ability to prepare complex database specifications Ability to design relational databases Skill in interpreting and communicating technical information related to computer programming and data processing, both verbally and in writing Ability to develop and manage relational databases in accordance with the Department’s standards Ability to receive and give constructive criticism, and maintain effective work relationships with others General Knowledge Skills and Abilities (KSAs): Initiative: Must be able to comprehend assignments, organize workload, and meet deadlines with little direction. Must be able to monitor and analyze situations to determine the next step. Communication: Can clearly convey information, in both written and verbal formats, to individuals or groups in a wide variety of settings (i.e., project team meetings, management presentations, etc.). Must have the ability to effectively listen and process information provided by others. Customer Service: Works well with clients and customers (i.e., business office, public, or other agencies). Able to assess the needs of the customer, provide information or assistance to satisfy expectations or resolve a problem. Decision Making: Makes sound, well-informed, and objective decisions utilizing critical thinking skills and analysis. Flexibility: is open to change, new processes (or process improvement), and new information. Can adapt in response to new information, changing conditions, or unexpected obstacles. Ability to receive and give constructive criticism and maintain effective work relationships with others. Interpersonal: Shows friendliness, courtesy, understanding, and politeness to others Leadership: Motivates, encourages, and challenges others. Can adapt leadership styles in a variety of situations. Problem Solving: Able to identify, evaluate, and use sound judgement to generate and evaluate alternative actions, and make recommendations as accordingly. Team Building: Encourages, inspires, and guides others toward accomplishing the common goal as an equal member of the team.
