Overview Deliver insights to help our clients turn data into action as a Database Administrator at GDIT. Provide transformative solutions to overcome big‑data challenges and advance mission‑critical operations. Responsibilities Support operational and maintenance activities for production database systems. Design, build, and deploy database schemas, tables, stored procedures, and permissions. Develop database utilities, automation tools, and reporting solutions. Analyze, forecast, and sustain capacity and performance requirements. Administer data imports/exports and report development. Work with cloud‑based database platforms such as PostgreSQL or AWS RDS. Utilize SQL or SQL/PSM for database language tasks. Manage enterprise database platforms such as Oracle Enterprise 12c or newer. Collaborate using tools like JIRA, Confluence, or SharePoint. Implement technology changes within existing lifecycle management processes. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related technical discipline; or equivalent combination of education, certifications, or experience. 10+ years of experience in database administration or related field. Proven experience supporting and maintaining production systems. Hands‑on proficiency in database schema design and deployment. Experience with database automation, utilities, and reporting. Strong analytical skills for capacity and performance planning. Ability to work with PostgreSQL, AWS RDS, Oracle Enterprise 12c+. Proficiency in SQL or SQL/PSM. Knowledge of multi‑model enterprise databases. Experience with teamwork tools (JIRA, Confluence, SharePoint). U.S. citizenship required; top secret SCI + polygraph clearance currently required. Desired Skills Track record of delivering excellent customer service to technical and non‑technical partners. Strong communication skills for presenting technical concepts to diverse audiences. Experience implementing technology changes within lifecycle management processes. Familiarity with system authentication and accreditation for environments containing sensitive data. Excellent organizational skills; ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines. Strong problem‑solving skills and attention to detail. Leadership experience and ability to navigate competing priorities effectively. Location and Travel McLean, VA – on customer site. Additional work locations: Chantilly, VA. Travel required: less than 10%. Compensation Salary range: $170,000 – $230,000, based on experience, geographic location, and contractual terms. Benefits 401(k) with company match.
