Fire Protection Engineer, Senior Opportunity: Provide technical and programmatic fire protection, life safety, and occupational safety and health (OSH) support to federal clients, including advisory services to architects, developers, owners, and government entities. Help ensure fire and life safety codes and criteria are met through design analysis, shop drawing reviews, construction oversight, field surveys, and system testing. Responsibilities Contribute as subject-matter expert (SME) and representative of the Authority Having Jurisdiction (AHJ) in the development of Statements of Work (SOWs) and design and construction proposals. Develop performance-based design analyses using fire protection engineering principles, code analyses, and advisement with AHJ. Provide engineering reviews of shop drawings, construction oversight, inspection, field surveys, and life safety system acceptance testing for fire suppression, fire detection, and emergency signaling systems. Participate in project meetings to give progress oversight, coordinate priorities, and recommend resolution of construction-related issues. Evaluate existing building and life safety system conditions through code compliance, safety and fire hazard analysis surveys. Develop technical reports outlining fire prevention and protection issues, compliance gaps, and remedial work. Review and mentor junior fire protection engineers on deliverables. Qualifications 10+ years of experience in the field of fire protection. Professional Engineer (PE) license. Experience in healthcare settings and applying Fire Protection and Life Safety requirements to design reviews of new or updated facilities, systems, and equipment. Experience with on-site audits and compliance assessments, with associated reporting. Proficient with FP/LS codes applicable to healthcare facilities, including NFPA 99 and The Joint Commission (TJC) standards, or facilities standards such as UFC 3-600-01 or UFC 3-601-02. Experience with federal government agencies such as EPA, VHA, DoD, and FAA. Knowledge of major NFPA codes and standards: NFPA 101 Life Safety Code, NFPA 13, NFPA 25, NFPA 70, NFPA 72, NFPA 75, and NFPA 90A. Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust or Suitability/Fitness determination based on client requirements. Master’s degree (Nice if you have). Preferred Qualifications Experience with OSH regulatory and consensus standards such as 29 CFR 1910, 1926, 1960, NFPA 70, 70E, and 101, and enterprise-level OSH policies and guidance. Experience designing fire suppression and detection systems. Certified Safety Professional (CSP) certification. Certified Fire Protection Specialist (CFPS) certification. Compensation Projected compensation range: $86,800.00 to $198,000.00 (annualized USD). Benefits Health, life, disability, financial, and retirement benefits.
