This means the successful candidate is expected to report to Austin, TX or Warren, MI three times per week, at minimum.

The SDV organization works on ADAS software, Infotainment Services, AI-based Apps, Energy (EV) & Connected Mobility Services, Software Architecture, Systems Engineering, Software Integration, Product and Program Management- all to provide cool features such as Super Cruise to our customers.

The Software Defined Vehicle (SDV) team supports the definition, design, and development of continuously improving mobility services.
SDV is a new vehicle intelligence platform that will underpin all our future innovations across a wide range of technological advancements, including EVs and expanded automated driving.
This means that you can potentially put a fingerprint on the vehicles that drive down the road! This space is ripe with technical leadership opportunities for advanced technology development, as well as the ability to provide mentorship for new employees.
You can flex your teamwork muscles as you will be tasked with working with several other areas of engineering, Cloud computing, 5G / MEC / Edge computing, and the business.

Our Ultifi Feedback Loop team works in the Linux ecosystem, building in-vehicle and Cloud services to implement a scalable Software Defined Vehicle (SDV) platform and functional vehicle services.
Linux / Android based system level services development for features like IPC communication, vehicle to Cloud communications, video processing, security implementation, diagnostics, debugging and logging, all within the Electronic Control Systems (ECU) of vehicle like Infotainment ECU.
The Ultifi Feedback loop team designs and develops the all the vehicle intelligence within the vehicle across all vehicle functions.
These services will also use the 5G / MEC infrastructure and AI/ML on the Cloud.
We build high quality Ultifi Feedback loop software which is foundational to move General Motors towards an industry first intelligent and responsive Software Defined Vehicle.

What You'll Do:

  • Help design, develop and debug Linux / Android services which run on the ECU systems of the vehicle
  • Interact and implement functional interfaces for all the electronic control units (ECUs) on the vehicle
  • Design and develop services that connect to 5G / MEC Edge compute, Cloud and corporate data centers
  • implement new vehicle services that support new features in the vehicle, support the UI / App teams implementing new features with SDV functional interfaces
  • Performance test / validate new SDV / Ultifi vehicle services that become the foundation for engineers across General Motors to develop vehicle content
  • Plan, define and execute Infotainment In-Vehicle App validation execution to ensure flawless App launch across all MY’s.
  • Review Back-Office requirements (i.
    e.
    Stories/Narratives) and create/modify test strategy, test plan, test scripts and test scenarios.
  • Execute test cases and generate daily/weekly execution status reports.
  • Perform risk assessment and come up with risk mitigation plan/strategy to meet tight deadlines.
  • Ensure test data and validation bench is setup correctly prior to execution.

Additional Job Description

Your Skills & Abilities (Qualifications):

  • 4+ years of professional software design and development experience
  • At least 4 years experience with Java
  • Strongly prefer some experience with the following: , Kotlin, Python, and/or C++
  • BS, or MS in EE/CE/CS, or the equivalent in experience with evidence of exceptional ability
  • Excellent debugging and troubleshooting skills on a bench / emulator / simulator
  • Experience with multi-threaded, concurrent, and asynchronous software design and development
  • Experience working with large code bases, developing entirely new code and maintaining existing code, within a CI/CD environment, over multiple model years
  • Strong working experience in Kubernetes including K8s cluster, network, services, App Gateway(ingress) and Docker
  • Strong knowledge of Cloud networking i.
    e.
    VNET, Subnet, DNS, Load Balancer, including troubleshooting, diagnostics
  • Experience with CAN bus messages, NeoVi fire, VehicleSpy, OCC Sim tools.

What Will Give You a Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications):

  • Prior knowledge working with AWS, Azure or GCP Cloud based services, AI/ML tools is preferred
  • 4+ years Embedded Linux design and development experience
  • Experience working in real-time embedded environments preferred
  • Distributed systems, queueing, and messaging experience a plus
