Job Summary:

The Job Cost Analyst is responsible for overseeing and supporting the day-to-day accounting functions at PIIs subsidiary, Palmer Paving Corp. (PPC), with a focus on job costing and work in-process analysis reporting and accounts payable activities for the entitys paving operations. The position currently reports directly to the Construction Controller and indirectly to the Vice President of Construction.

Essential Functions: * Dedication. Handle the monthly job cost report process for use in creating and updating contract schedules and updated work-in-progress reports for internal and external use.
  • Communicate. Collaboration with project management and estimating teams.
  • Prepare weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual reports for construction-related operations.
  • Preparation of monthly variance analysis of actual operating results versus budgeted amounts.
  • Unit cost analysis. Ensure accuracy of all project costs including, production quantities, labor allocations, equipment and trucking costs.
  • Ownership and caring. Oversee the Job Cost Specialist personnel and review AP posting to ensure correct job and phase coding.
  • Focused. Manage project closeout process. Track and follow up on open items from a financial and project management perspective.
  • Assist in the preparation of required work papers for annual audit.
  • Participate and generates reporting for the annual budgeting and forecasting process for construction related revenue, expenses, and capital expenditures.
Requirements, Education and Experience: * A Bachelors degree with a concentration in Accounting.
  • Working knowledge of Vista/Viewpoint software application, preferred.
  • A minimum of intermediate Excel skills required.
  • A minimum of five (5) years of accounting experience with at least three (3) years of experience in a
  • construction or manufacturing environment. Work-in-progress experience preferred.
  • Strong understanding of generally accepted accounting principles, conventions, and standards.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal English communication and presentation skills
  • Legal right to work in the U. S.

This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers. This is mostly sedentary, outside of travel, in an office space. The abilities to sit at a desk, frequent walking, bending, or standing, as necessary, are required.
