Position Summary

The Lead Preschool Teacher is passionate about early childhood education, children in general and works in a supportive and collegiate environment where you can make a difference. The Lead Teacher is responsible for overall classroom management, including lesson planning, safety protocol and maintaining positive, professional relationships with parents/caregivers. This is a full time non-exempt position and reports directly to the Site Supervisor.

What Youll Do

  • Establish and maintain a safe, healthy and rich learning environment per FACES SF standards
  • Supervise, coach, and mentor classroom teacher(s) and floater teachers
  • Support childrens growth in key developmental areas (social-emotional, language and literacy, cognitive, and physical)
  • Use age appropriate positive guidance techniques and model behavior for children and co-teachers
  • Ensure positive teacher/child interactions and peer relationships in the classroom
  • Maintain Community Care Licensing (CCL) standards and train and supervise staff regarding CCL regulations; ensure teacher/child ratio
  • Lead classroom teaching team to plan and implement lessons and activities appropriate to children's developmental expectations and innate curiosity
  • Ensure teaching team follows all health and safety procedures, including closely supervising children and conducting health checks
  • Lead and implement weekly developmental observations and the Desired Results Developmental Profile (DRDP) assessments, assign assessments to classroom teacher
  • Be responsible in creating and maintaining positive family relationships
  • Communicate with parents daily around their childs day and milestones
  • Prepare for and lead teacher conferences with parents/caregivers
  • Partner with FACES Family Support team, Inclusion Specialist, and Site Supervisor to communicate and address need for additional child and family support
  • Follow all policies, procedures, and expectations set in Teacher Handbook
  • Ensure all paperwork, program data, and other administrative tasks are complete
  • Attend staff meetings and professional development/trainings
  • Align classroom practices to FACES SF values


Qualifications

You have a solid mix of the following knowledge, ability, skills and experience:

  • Maintain California Child Development Teacher Permit or Higher
  • Two (2) + years classroom experience in ECE setting
  • Experience with State and Federally funded child care programs (preferred)
  • Demonstrated commitment to working with families from marginalized communities
  • Ability to work cooperatively as a part of an interdisciplinary team, as well as the ability to work independently, demonstrating strong initiative and enthusiasm
  • Use effective and compassionate communication
  • Professionalism, punctuality, flexibility, self-motivation and reliability are essential
  • Work cooperatively as part of an interdisciplinary team
  • Demonstrates the ability to meet required state, federal, local, and FACES SF standards (including but not limited to fingerprint clearance, negative TB test, First Aid, CPR)
  • Lift up to 50lbs


What We Offer

  • Hourly rate is $34.00 - $43.10 based on experience, qualifications, and education
