JOB DESCRIPTION:

Directs and coaches all direct reports and manages established strategic/administrative tasks to ensure optimal execution of Meetings & Incentive (M&I) program objectives.
Scope
Responsible for Travel Director (TD) management, TD hiring and training, client account management, and other financial/administrative tasks.
Manages approximately 20 employees.
Reporting and Working Relationships
Reports to VP, Event Operations or Director, Event Operations. Direct reports include Travel Directors. Works closely with Sales and Event Management.
Primary Responsibilities
45% - STRATEGIC/ADMINISTRATIVE/FINANCIAL TASKS: Manages TD headcount, scheduling and operations to meet or improve established full-time TD utilization/productivity. Reviews and approves expense advances and expense reports, and confirms completion of required Lead TD tasks. Facilitates hiring and manages extensive interviews of prospective TDs. Supports and/or delivers training where appropriate. Completes Part-Time TD payroll and Lead TD bonus reporting. Maintains TD SharePoint site with critical communications and policies. Manages operational and staff challenges. Manages and assists with special projects as directed.
30% - PEOPLE DEVELOPMENT: Develops expert team members through coaching, training and counseling. Conduct ongoing aspirational coaching sessions, providing feedback on performance expectations and assisting with development plans and goals. Presents salary and promotion recommendations for direct reports to senior leadership. Provides performance-based rewards and recognition to reinforce positive behavior as it occurs. Supports growth of Travel Directors to positions within organization.
25% - ACCOUNT STRATEGY: Establishes knowledge of accounts including products/services, participant profile, client decision makers/executives, types of programs, client expectations, past challenges, and in-house account team. Qualifies and maintains pool of TDs (leads, area leads, staff) to support client operations. Serves as liaison between Event Management, Sales, Event Operations scheduling team, and TDs. Reviews program itineraries and qualifies on-site requirements/concerns with Event Management & Sales. Provides guidance respective to number of TDs, specific TDs (strengths weighed against requirements,) and arrival/departure dates. Consults with Lead TD and Meeting Event Manager regarding communication of unique/specific client requirements. Ensures TDs have required trip operating materials. Supports resolution of challenges during program operation. Attends and supports program operations as needed. Confirms adherence to client/Maritz billing requirements.
This job function may require travel to destinations worldwide, in support of client site inspections and/or program operations. There is an inherent risk associated with all travel, often as a result of extraordinary circumstances. Therefore, during an emergency, it is your duty to provide the necessary guidance and leadership, and to promote the safety of the client, travel participants and other Maritz employees by implementing or supporting prescribed crisis procedures.
Qualifications
1. Bachelor degree or equivalent work experience required.
2. Minimum 3 years on-site operational expertise as a Maritz Travel Director or in a related capacity required. 3. Global travel industry experience and/or knowledge preferred.
4. High level of service initiative.
5. Demonstrated team player.
6. Capacity for handling multiple and simultaneous tasks.
7. Ability to travel up to 15% of the time.
