Manager, Product Manager – UX/UI & Merchandising | Cars, Capital One Travel
We are seeking a UX/UI-focused Product Manager to spearhead the frontend customer experience and merchandising strategy for our expanding Car Rental vertical . While our existing full‑stack team has robust expertise in backend API connectivity, partner rate negotiations, and fulfillment infrastructure, this role will own the “glass”—the end‑to‑end customer funnels across Brex, Capital One Business Travel (COBT) , and consumer channels.
Your mission is to take complex, backend rental supply and transform it into a beautifully merchandised, intuitive, and high‑converting frontend experience. You will navigate the unique UX nuances of the car rental shopping and booking experience, ensuring that how we display, filter, and book inventory delights users and maximizes conversion.
Key Responsibilities
Own the Front-End Car Funnel: Drive the end‑to‑end user journey for car rentals across Brex and Capital One portals, from initial search and discovery to checkout and confirmation.
Intelligent Merchandising: Define how car rental inventory, rates, and add‑ons (insurance, fuel options, etc.) are structured, prioritized, and displayed to users to maximize engagement and conversion.
Bridge the Complex to the Simple: Collaborate closely with the existing backend supply team to translate technical API capabilities and negotiated rates into clean, intuitive UI/UX features.
A/B Testing & Optimization: Constantly analyze customer behavior, drop‑off points, and checkout funnels to run experiments that improve the digital product experience.
Ideal Candidate Profile
Marketplace/eCommerce: Strong product background scaling high‑traffic consumer marketplaces or eCommerce funnels.
Heavy UX/UI Focus: A proven track record of delivering heavily consumer‑centric, design‑forward features. You have an eye for information architecture and know how to present complex options (like varying car tiers and rental policies) simply.
Supply & Demand Fluency: Understands the conversion nuances of transactional funnels where supply availability and pricing dynamically shift.
Skills & Competencies
Conversion Rate Optimization (CRO): Deep understanding of user psychology, funnel friction, and how to build seamless checkout flows.
Data‑Driven Merchandising: Ability to use data to determine the best ways to bundle, filter, and surface products to consumers.
Collaborative Translator: Highly capable of working alongside a deeply technical core backend team, ensuring that engineering capabilities perfectly align with an elite front‑end user.
