Summary:
The Manufacturing Maintenance Technician II is responsible for providing electrical, controls, and mechanical support to maintain, troubleshoot, repair, and improve automated production equipment. This role serves as a journeyman-level maintenance technician and supports production operations by ensuring equipment reliability, safety compliance, and continuous process improvement.
Responsibilities:
- Ensure production equipment complies with safety regulations and industry standards.
- Identify and resolve unsafe conditions related to electrical systems, guarding, safety interlocks, and emergency stops.
- Complete safety review checklists for new equipment and major process changes.
- Follow all site safety procedures, including lockout/tagout, hot work, and confined-space requirements.
- Troubleshoot and repair production equipment to minimize downtime.
- Identify and maintain spare parts inventory for production equipment.
- Perform scheduled preventive maintenance and adjust maintenance schedules as needed.
- Train and mentor production associates on proper equipment operation and maintenance.
- Support updates to equipment-related SOPs to maintain accurate documentation.
- Identify and implement improvements to reduce costs, improve quality, and enhance customer satisfaction.
- Participate in Lean manufacturing and Practical Process Improvement (PPI) initiatives.
- Support efforts to improve product availability and delivery performance.
Required Skills:
- High school diploma required; advanced education in a scientific or technical field is preferred.
- Technical certification is a plus.
- Minimum of 3 5 years of electrical experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Prior experience in electrical maintenance or industrial maintenance environments.
- Strong electrical troubleshooting and diagnostic skills.
- Ability to read electrical schematics and technical drawings.
- Experience troubleshooting automated equipment, electronics, sensors, motors, servos, and pneumatic systems.
- Hands-on experience with automated production equipment in a manufacturing environment.
- Strong mechanical aptitude, including equipment disassembly, repair, and reassembly.
- Proficiency in using hand tools and power tools.
- Working knowledge of mechanical, pneumatic, lubrication, electrical, and industrial automation systems.
- Knowledge of general construction, repair, and maintenance practices in commercial environments.
- Exposure to PLC-based and industrial control systems.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel.
- Experience using CMMS software and inventory management systems.
- Technical certifications related to maintenance or electrical systems.
- Experience with Lean manufacturing and continuous improvement methodologies.
- Experience working in cleanrooms, laboratories, warehouses, or hazardous production environments.
- Ability to work across multiple environments, including outdoor and mechanical spaces.
- Experience mentoring and training production personnel.
- Strong problem-solving and process improvement skills.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and work in physically demanding environments.
