Senior GL Accountant
Location: North Mesa, Arizona
Schedule: Full-time, fully on-site; Monday Thursday, four 10-hour days
Comp: $90k - $120k

Ideal Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate is a smart, grounded, and technically capable Senior Accountant with strong general-ledger fundamentals and a stable employment history. They may come from manufacturing, defense, government contracting, or another complex accounting environment, but their willingness and ability to learn are more important than checking every preferred box.

They should be comfortable remaining in a senior-level individual-contributor role for several years, while gradually taking on more ownership and institutional responsibility. Over time, this person should become a trusted subject-matter expert who understands Nammo's entities, systems, processes, and accounting history and is positioned to support future leadership succession.

Reason for the Opening
The position became available after the previous Senior Accountant relocated to Vietnam with her husband after seven years with the company. Client is looking for someone who will remain with the organization long term, develop deep institutional knowledge, and become a dependable internal resource. The current Accounting Manager holds significant legacy knowledge and is expected to retire within approximately five to eight years. Ideally, this hire will learn closely from her, document key processes, and eventually position themselves to step into greater responsibility, potentially including the Accounting Manager role.

The right candidate should be:

  • A true Senior Accountant, not someone still operating at the staff level
  • Strong in month-end close, journal entries, accruals, and balance-sheet reconciliations
  • Tenacious and willing to dig into discrepancies until they understand and resolve them
  • Comfortable supporting multiple entities and competing deadlines
  • Teachable, intellectually curious, and eager to learn from experienced team members
  • Interested in remaining in a Senior Accountant role for several years rather than quickly leaving for the next title
  • Able to create meaningful process documentation and become a go-to accounting resource
  • Independent and accountable, while still being collaborative and team-oriented

    Must-Have Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
  • At least five years of progressive general-ledger accounting experience
  • Strong hands-on month-end close experience
  • Solid understanding of journal entries, accruals, and balance-sheet reconciliations
  • Working knowledge of GAAP
  • Ability to independently identify and resolve accounting issues
  • Advanced Excel skills
  • Experience working within an ERP system
  • Ability to manage deadlines across multiple entities or business units
