TITLE: Special Education Program Coordinator REPORTS TO: Special Education Division Chair SUMMARY: Assists the Special Education Division Chair with program coordination. Responsible for coordinating department activities directly related to Special Education services and making recommendations to the Division Chair for program and curricular changes. The Program Coordinator facilitates IEP meetings and maintains communication with parents, out of-district agencies, and faculty members. WORK YEAR: Teacher work year plus extended summer contract QUALIFICATIONS: Special Education Teaching Licensure (LBS 1) or Illinois Type 73 School Service Personnel Licensure Knowledge of state and federal special education regulations and best practices related to special education service delivery Type 75 General Administrative Certification preferred ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Serves as the LEA for IEP meetings. Represents the District in IEP meetings at associate districts and out-of-district placements. Coordinates functions of assigned special education programs. Facilitates special education team meetings and student problem solving meetings. Facilitates communication with parents. Case manages students attending out-of-district placements. Coordinates standardized testing, including PSAT, SAT, DLM, MAP. Serves as a liaison between the Division Chair and members of the special education division. Serves as a liaison between the Special Education Division and the Student Services Division, general education divisions, and building administration. Serves as a liaison between the Special Education Division and community service agencies. Leads and participates in continuous improvement efforts to enhance Special Education programming. Facilitates staff professional development activities within the Division. Assists with student scheduling. Attends regularly scheduled meetings with Division Chair and other team members. Other duties as assigned.
